Does anyone prefer T-racks over Ozone 5?

I'm on day 5 of my trial with Ozone and it's pretty impressive. I have also been impressed with T-racks. Being able to use the processors as individial plugs and being able to run T-racks standalone (importing mixes from Sonar) seem to be it's best qualities. They both seem to be up to the job. I just need to bond with one and get with it I guess. I do like the eq matching feature with Ozone. I could see doing a little DIY arc thing with that.

If you can call Izotope and get support then they are the clear choice.

Well, it's my first time using Custom shop since installing it and guess what. It crashes every time. Tracks deluxe crashes every time. To top it all off, any project in Sonar with an IK plug in it, can you say it? Crashes. What a joke CS is turning out to be.

I have T-Racks CS 4 Deluxe and it works fine in Sonar..

Only thing is ...under Win 8 I can't use the stand alones because they
    don't recognize my Quadcapture driver...

I use Ozone 5 regularly. The only thing is it is very CPU intensive even if you are only using one or two of it's modules. I like the concept of T-Racks CS but I wonder how much cpu it will eat with the same amount of plugs loaded as Ozone. I have used T-Racks on other computers in other studios and it does tend to be heavy on the processing by the time you load several plugs.

I had a crash with Amplitube, but I'm having a lot of little things going on every since the X2a update. Pro channel weirdness for sure.

I know people complain about not having separate plugs for the cheaper Ozone, but what I'd like to know is, how much more CPU usage is there by having an instance of Ozone loaded on a track with all but one module turned off, than there would be by having that module as a separate plug?

Good question, I'll try to answer it before my trial runs out. I do like how you can import audio projects into T-racks and have a different mix for each. Then being able to compare things like eq and rms levels with a click. I like both quite a bit...maybe my wife needs both!

Let me guess...Obi could pay $400 for Ozone and be a pariah at work, or just grab T-Racks off the corporate server for free. Hmm, tough choice.

The only Ozone I have is the old version that came with Soundforge so I can't speak to the new one but the thing about T-Racks is that it's not just for mastering.  It is my go-to suite for just about all track and bus fX.  I like it WAY better than my UAD stuff (which is for sale - PM me if interested).  I don't think Ozone wold be useful for that since it is designed for mastering and is apparently very CPU intensive.

I thought it was best to buy both - when on sale. I'd probably go the FabFilter route if starting again and had the dosh but there's nothing wrong with either of them.

The singles in T-Racks are useful as well as being used as a whole. There's also a 'How To' video on T-Racks mastering that's about $5.

Ozone is to be used sparingly (I have 4, which is like 5 but has different colours. Colours don't change the sound. They make things look different). The temptation is to whack on a preset and 'Ooohh' at the new loudness and punch. It's best to learn how to actually use it and then you can fine tune it. There's a number of videos flying around about Ozone too. Even if it's about Ozone 4 or 3, the principles are still the same.

Of course, buying Ozone 5 can lead you into temptation for Alloy 2 on individual tracks.

When you have two you're looking at and you think you may end up getting both then buy each one when they are on sale. You can pick both of these secondhand too.

If you have the free Groove 3 pass from the content club, you can check out the Groove 3 videos for both and get a pretty good idea which one will suit you best.

I've watched both videos. The free pass for groove3 free has been the best Cakewalk freebie yet! I have also tried both in trial mode, and I have been impressed with both.

I have both. I use normally use t-racks for mixing and ozone for mastering. With that being said, the more I use ozone, the more I've seen how t-racks can be properly used for mastering. It was a lack of knowledge on my part far more than t-racks not being up to the job.

I use Ozone the majority of the time and since TRacks has bloated up like Amplitube did with the addition of CS I doubt I'll be using it at all.

Can TRacks Deluxe be used anymore? Or has been supplanted by TRacks CS? Every time I try to run it it says to run the installer again?

It was deluxe I was comparing to Ozone. They are both the same price.
I believe you go to the customshop and click on update my account for your older T-racks to work.

I did that already but when I launch TRacks Deluxe it says to run the installers and then shuts down the shell.
Obi, any clues? I used my last activation this year.
