We Need To Talk --- DEAR (another Blues-a-billy number)
I hope everyone had a good holiday season and happy new year to all. Well, I spent a bit of time trying out new songs during the past few weeks. I was in a silly mood when I did this one but I think that most of us verbally-stingy guys can identify with it (especially those of us who have been fortunate enough to be with our wives for a long time). Admit it guys - you wouldn't have it any other way. I'm calling the style Bluesabilly because I tried to rip-off a bit of a Studebaker John blues sound on the rhythm but the overall feel and leads are supposed to have a touch of rockabilly (I hope?!.). As always I will be grateful for any feedback and tips on how to improve. I hope that you get a bit of a giggle from this one. Thanks! Freddy, this is a hit! I hate those words, and what a topic for a blues-a-billy song. You managed to sum up my feelings in a way that made me smile.

Hey, Freddy, Nice work on this fun, nitty gritty, down home vintage blues number! Great songwriting and lyrics, and a nice "live" sounding mix that makes me feel like I'm sitting in a roadhouse listening to a blues band. Excellent job, buddy! Bob

Small crit Feddy. There's a hum just before the song starts. And I hear it in the "we need to talk dear" lines. I think it's affecting the whole mix. Listen carefully right after the "hold on" line. I do like the song.

Not sure but drum rolls are weird like NOT in a shuffle groove like they should be. Drums are a little quiet too. Classic blues stuff. Jelly roll Freddie. Also I heard what Bapu heard, song starts with a kind of fart.

Ahhh.. the words of experience. The best songs come from experience. Cool lyrics. I like that bassy lead tone, it's very present in the mix, very pleasing. Daryl

Honey not now...can't this wait until after the game? yeah.... not something you want to say to her.... Cool tune.... rootsy and organic.... I'd work a bit on getting rid of the hum, and trying a bit to clean up the mix..... not super clean..... but to the point where you can clearly hear the drums. Excellent job writing....

Thank you Frank. I think that we all have been there one time or another. I am glad that it brought a smile to your face Lynn. Thanks. Mark: Hey buddy! It's a goofy song but I love to have fun when I'm doing music. Thanks for the kind words. Thanks Robby! I see that you are familiar with the situation. Hellooo Scotty. This is scary stuff isn't it. Thanks for the feedback. Hey Bob. I'm kind of stuck on that retro feel but that's the kind of stuff that I grew up on. Thanks for the listen and feedback buddy. Ed, Robby, and Johnny: With the less that crummy equipment that I have I didn't catch the hum at first. I copied the song it and took it to listen on some better equipment and now it is driving me crazy (at least it's a short ride). I am going to have to pull the working files and listen track by track. I have a feeling that it is in the bass track. I ran the bass through my amplifier and that may have given it that hum. Back to work! Thanks for responding. I very much appreciate the feedback!!! Sooo, you have been there also? I guess that sometime we guys just can't help ourselves. Thanks for the listen and for responding James. Hi Daryl. Thanks for taking the time to listen and for the kind words. Hey Bub. You are very kind and I appreciate the comments. I just wish I knew what I was doing when I sit down to do this stuff ;>) Hi Tim and thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Hello Paulo. I run into that problem on occasion with SoundClick --- especially late at night (or should I say early in the morning). I hope you get the opportunity to try again. Thanks Eko! Hey if I put a little scratch on this maybe it would cover up the hum. Thanks again. Hey Herb. Thanks for listening and for the feedback. I will be going back to the working files to see if I can identify where it is coming from. Maybe, down the road a piece, I'll be getting some better equipment also. Thanks again. The idea actually came to me from a stand-up comedian doing a bit on TV that I saw a long time ago. Thanks for the comments Phil!!! Thank you for the kind comments John.
