    I have to ask....

    Is Alloy really worth it?

I have Ozone and I do like it.
    I am happy with it.....

Would love to have Alloy but am questioning wheather or not it is worth spending the cash...will I actually use it? Enought to make it worth the investment?
I am at the point where I now need to ask these questions cause at $99 not a lot of cash BUT it is a price point break....if I am going to use it then I am ok with spending it....if I am not going to use it on a regular basis then I will have to pass........

You would use it on individual tracks like you would use Ozone on the master track. While people like it (me included) - you can probably do all it offers with other stuff that you may already own. Let's face it, you've got by up to this point with stuff you own. The same though could be said of Ozone - is it necessary - and many people purchase and like that.

Alloy was definitely borne out of people using Ozone on individual tracks and wishing they had something slightly more dedicated to the purpose.

There's a feeling that Alloy 2 is a noticeable step up from Alloy so a fresh assessment should be made by all interested parties.

I wouldn't call it a must. It's also not a 'fail' plug-in as it does what it says on the tin and does it well.

You can try it before buying it. It's really about whether you think you've got those features covered or you think this is more convenient. Presets - the dreaded word - but they are helpful on this plug-in. The actual plug-in is iZotope quality.

OK........I broke down and bought it over the weekend.......I do like it....it is very different that just using a compressor alone.......

I am still at the compressor strangulation stage in my skills..........meaning I was making some templets on Saturday and I put Superior Drummer 2 on seperate tracks and the routed them to one bus. I put Alloy 2 on that bus and played with the settings and got some really nice results......next I put a CLA 76 Blacky on the bus (and turned off Alloy 2) and I really heard a difference....I was strangling SD2. It was amazing.....so I turned off the CLA and turned on Alloy......I liked what I heard so I deleted the Cla and now have one nice templet for SD2 Custom and Vintage......
