Great 'wall of sound' - Guitars sound great.
The mix between instruments is good too but overall the mix lacks top and bottom end definition - it all sounds a bit 'middly' on my speakers.

Good performance on vocal and guitars. Both are top notch. I'd like to hear a bit more bass and drums, but that's just me.
Really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing it.

You chose one of my all time favorite songs by Soundgarden, and one of the most difficult to cover.  You did more than a credible job, especially capturing the angst of the song.  This shows much promise, and a little more attention to the mix would make this a gem.

    All the best,

Mmmmm "angst..." The bitter tears of anguish and despair. But enough about my love life? Hadn't hear the cover, I like your version. And I wouldn't have heard it if I hadn't read Daryl's post, but I agree with him. I'll bet the neighbors heard you tracking the vocals :-D

    Good job though

I haven't heard the original, but I'm sure this is better. Great performances, production and mix!

    Hey, Robert,

Nice work on this great SG cover!  Great playing and excellent job on the vocals.

By the way, "Learning To Fly" sounds really good too, another one of my favorites.

    Good stuff!

Daryl1968 - Thanks for checking it out. I'll look into the mids.

rscain - Thank you. I think if I drop the mids a bit, the bass and drums may pop out better.

Lynn - Thanks for the comment. It's always a work in progress.

Theband - Thanks for checking it out! If my neighbors heard the vocals being tracked then I'm sure your's did too. Jim lives in Ohio and I live in Massachusetts.

Scottytunes - Thanks Scotty! I wouldn't say it's better. It is different than the original. I forgot to check the midi before I did it all so it's faster than the original by around 6. I had it at 108 and I think the original is 102 or slower.

Bob - Thanks for the comment. Jim did a really good job with the vox. Learning to fly was a fun one for me as I love the song as well.

Good work but there is a lot of mid, widen it and then you have it.

Really nice job on this cover.  Think I'd like a tad more bottom, but that could be a taste thing.  Well done.

Somewhere in there you lost the smooth Soundgarden sound and instead found the more arena sound of Iron Maiden. Too much reverb, way too much projection and throat singing/false vibrato. I hate to say it, but I found the song nearly unrecognisable. As Lynn says though, it is one of the more challenging songs in the genre. I think a lot of folks might significantly underestimate the complexity of this genre and era of rock music.

Thanks Night Fox. I appreciate you taking the time to listen.

Foxwolfen, I'm not trying to be Soundgarden. I'm just having fun playing a great song. Yes, Jim would make an excellent frontman for an Iron Maiden trubute/cover band. Maybe just a touch to much verb on the vox.

Hey...really liked the recording and sound of this...liked the tone of the guitars and the feel of the kick with the bass...my only crit is that if the vocals had a bit more energy to them it would really lift the song.  Enjoyed the listen :)

I though maybe the vocal level is good but the power chords could come down a little during the vocals.  Nice vocal work, on key and good tone.   The power chords are tight and well played but a bit too fuzzy for my taste, they seem to pull away from the vocals, which are quite good.
