recorded guitar not playing back ?

Hi, I have an audio backing track playing no problem, I have added another track and recorded some guitar, I know this is there as the waveform is visible and if I zoom in and play it as a clip is plays.

Problem is when I play back normally there is nothing on the output meter by the fader and no sound from the guitar track....its driving me nuts !

Hi, everything is set to VS 1-2 output all as usual, the backing track output is set exactly the same, its clearly something simple but I just cant see it !

Yeah... why not routed to Master Bus or a Bus > Master Bus > Mon?

Anyway... other things to look at might be if it's a mono signal on a stereo track and the pan or interleave is set wrong (mono signal should be on a mono track anyway). Check the ProChannel strip or the Inspector to see if something is muted, turned down, whatever. If there are any effects on the track check for problems there or maybe remove them altogether to see if you get playback. Are their any Sends on the track that go nowhere?

    Just tossing out ideas. Cheers.

well Ive checked and all seems correct, however clearly something ISnt correct.

VS1&2 are routed to Master Bus, whats odd is that all the settings are the same as the other track which works fine,  the weird thing is that the audio is there but not showing on any output meters, yet when I play it in sort of edit mode like creating a loop or somethiong you can hear te audio?

More investigation required.....I might start a new project and see how that goes...thanks for your comments.

Solo the track and pull up your audio interface mixer and windows volume control and see if you have any meter movement...if you don't there might be a routing issue with one or both of them?

try cloning a track that is working (without clips), then drag the recorded guitar to the new track.

Ok, so I added a new audio track, copied the guitar part across and it plays fine?

I deleted all of the FX etc from the original track so it was exactly the same as the new track, copied the guitar back and........nothing, how strange is that?

So why not just use the new track instead? Sounds like something got corrupted somewhere. Strange as it may seem these things happen sometimes. At least you didn't have to revert to an earlier version of the project or copy all the data into a new project (which was going to be my next suggestion).

    Cheers.

I used to have this problem of corrupted tracks all the time in older versions on Sonar but have not had it (that I recall) since X1.  I will think and see if I can recall what triggered this.
