Strange X2a - JBridge Issue
I was just playing around with X2a because I purchased some new plugs. This is also the first time I've run X2 since upgrading to TRacks CS. No matter which plug-in I insert, it opens under JBridge. Well all except my Waves stuff. I very rarely use 32 bit plugs and have only used JBridge once back in X!. The plug I used JBridge on has gone 64 bit so I deleted the 32 bit version and all has been well. Well until today that is. Has anyone else seen this? I'm thinking it may have something to do with the IK Multimedia CSR update. Going to uninstall JBridge and see if that does anything but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem. Mike

http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR&20X2&Lang=EN&Req=Mixing.38.html "...Load using jBridge wrapper. This check box is only enabled on systems where jBridge is installed. jBridge allows you to use 32-bit VST effects and instruments when using the x64 version of SONAR, as well as use 64-bit plug-ins when using the x86 version of SONAR. jBridge can also bridge 32-bit plug-ins in the x86 version of SONAR, allowing your computer to overcome the memory limitations of a single 32bit process..." if you have this option checked, sonar loads every plugin it scanned with this option checked using the jBridge...

Thanks Markus. Maybe I wasn't too clear on my issue. I understand what jBridge is and why it's there. I'm having trouble understanding why it's wrapping all of my 64 bit plug-ins. I uninstalled it but don't have time right now to see if it's all better. I'm guessing that since it's no longer on my system it probably wont be wrapping my 64 bit plugs. I only have like five 32 bit plugs left but they work fine without bridging. Thanks again. Mike

I think he's saying make sure the Load Using Jbridge option is turned off. I've never seen that dialog though. Cheers.

Ahh, ok Beep. I'll look into that just in case there is the same option for BitBridge. Mike

Could you post your results? I'm curious about this. The whole j/bit bridge stuff is a little confusing to me. I think most of it happens automagically for me but that's no excuse for me not to understand it. Cheers.

Heh... even though I've been reading and poking around Sonar for at least 3-4 hours every day (most days 6-8) for the past couple weeks I'm only at page 493 of the manual. I am getting horrifically bored at this point but my linear approach is scooping up all sorts of neat goodies... so I must press on. It's also why I've been blathering on so much here (for which I apologize). I need little breaks or I'd go nuts and the forum is kind of like a pop quiz. If I do happen to run across an answer though I'll let you know. ;-)

OK. The Cakewalk Documentation is pretty weak to say the least. So once again it's Google to the rescue. Cakewalk should just offer a help button that when you press it just takes you to the Google search page. http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1819562 Since un-installing jBridge all my plugs (32 and 64) load and work as expected. Bit late now but there's an option to turn of jbridge in the plugin properties. I'm not at my DAW at the mo so I'm working from memory.... Open the plugin manager Click on the VST you want to change Click on the "Plugin Properties" button There's an option there to uncheck "open under jbridge" or something like that. You can also do a whole group at once by setting a folder default IIRC. Maybe how it ended up running like that in the first place. HTH and apologies for any memory failures. I've already had one on here tonight.

Jeez Karl, thank's. "apologies for any memory failures. I've already had one on here tonight." Well I guess we can let you slide this once. Just don't let it happen again ok! Seriously tho, no big deal. And I do remember seeing that setting in X1 but couldn't seem to find it in X2. The thing that has me a little perplexed is that jbridge was loading on my 64 bit plugs too. Why would anyone want to do that. Is that even an option or even possible? I'm guessing something somewhere was all screwy. Not sure if it was X2 or jbridge but now that jbridge is gone all is well. Mike

So, the wrapper comes up only when needed. It's a bit time-consuming if you have a lot of plugs but it has worked without a glitch for me, even when mixing plugs of different formats in a track.

Back at the DAW.....................and it seems my memory isn't too bad. Step 4 should read "Load using JBridge wrapper" though. I'll go stand on the naughty step. It is possible to do whole folders at once. That is done from Preferences--->File--->VST settings. In the "VST Scan folder(s)" window click on the folder you want to change and then "Folder defaults". Of course if you have 64 & 32 bit VSTs in the same folder that's not much use.
