SILVERBIRD - SMOOTH ELECTRONICA JAZZ

Hi everyone , been working on this one for a few weeks or so off and on . Hope you enjoy the trumpet , Sax , voilin and piano sounds along with the electrica sounds I created .
The second section is very low end and it was intended to be that way , just thought I would pass that over to Shad .

James, you got this year off to a good start!  This is moody, sophisticated, and something that I would want to listen to again just to let it soak in.  I hear a lot of depth in this which shows off your engineering skill quite well.  Way to go, bro.

    All the best,

Hey thanks Lynn , thanks for the listen and comments on this tune . My creative
process was slow going the first week , after a week I ditched everything except
for my drum track and started over again .

             Thanks again Lynn - James

Nice vibe and tones.  Michael Franks uses that sound a lot, almost trumpet like.

The intro seemed abrupt, just an observation.   I like heavy back beat.

Hi Daryl , thanks ! Yea the intro sort pops right in with the horn , I started out
with something slightly different and deleted it thinking I would add it back in
later and sort forgot to do that .

I think this might be your best yet James. The mix sounds nice and clear, and you've made good use of the stereo field. I like the little touches like the arpeggio sequence that pops in at 1.00. Nice change of feel around the 2.00 mark before the sax comes in. Good stuff.

Thanks for the listen & comments , in this one I tried out some different things
in Project 5 to mix with and I think that made a difference this time around .
I also spend extra time mixing each track trying to get that sound I was looking
for , I think that paid off for me on this tune too .
My wife who tells me like it is with most of my songs said this time she really liked
this tune I did over my past songs so in my mind the disco lights lit me up
inside with dang I don't believe it she really likes this one ! LOL

I guess the art of creating & mixing music is taking your time to sort everything
out when creating & mixing and don't be affraid to try new things out when
              learning how to mix .
None of this is perfect but when I compair this tune from most of my past tunes
I do think I made a postive jump forward if your talking about mixing .
John who who uses Project 5 truly knows his stuff when you start talking
how to mix using Project 5 , someday I hope to catch up with him if I live that
              long .

Anyway thanks for your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed this one I posted.

Let 2013 be the best year for all of us !

What do you call this genre modern jazz? Its a little bit Dizzie Gilespie here, good vibes on the brass and over all an interesting song.

Thanks for the listen and comments , well I call it modern smooth Jazz . Reason
is because I did use some Jazz drum patterns plus the instruments I used like
the trumpet , sax and violin and some piano but I guess it all depends
on your taste in music .
My Dad listened to alot of modern Jazz and old Jazz , I sort of
grew up listening to some of the Jazz he was playing in the 60's . My favorite
Band was the Beatles back then but Jazz always seem to creep back into
my mind . I always loved listening to some of the great Jazz horn players , maybe
thats why I favor the trumpet and Sax .

               Thanks - James

Thanks to those who commented on this tune of mine , I think my next song will be something with lyrics & vocals in it .
UMMMMMMM guess it will be a surprise , maybe an old song I wrote back in 1996 using old recording gear I had back then .

Be back in the next three months , Cheers - James

BACK IN THE SADDLE ! Just ordered my new electronic drum set today from SweetWater , my next song will hopefully have me playing drums live instead of using drum patterns to create my drum tracks so thats going to be cool as long as I can get everything hooked up correctly so this new electronic kit works like they say it does with music software .

COOL time to open up my drum stick bag and wipe off the dust and start working on my chops again COOL!

    Hi, James,

Very nice, creative piece of electronica with a very smooth group of interesting melodies over a punchy vibe, all in a clean, fresh sounding mix!

I love the bubbly bass synth and the sax lines, and the smooth textured synths all sound great together.  This is definitely my new favorite from you, James!

Great stuff, buddy, and have fun when you get your new e-drums, you'll have a blast with them!

Hi Bob ! Thanks , I enjoyed working with this one , always like the trumpet and Sax .
I been messing around with some new sounds and trying to piece together
new and different next time around but so far its been slow trying to get the
creative juices flowing because of my newest electronic drum kit order . Been
watching alot of different youtube electronic drumset setup videos and other
drumming videos too most of them by RUSH . Neil Peart has always been one
of my all time favorite drummers , I love the energy he adds to their music when
              he plays .
My new E-Kit has been shipped and should arrive sometime next week on Thrusday
they said the last time I checked the tracking . I'm cleaning up my room to
make room for that kit when it arrives , its going to be nice to be able to play
drums again after all these years of not playing . Shouldn't take me too long
to get back into it again , sort like riding a bike once you learn you never forget .

Hey thanks again Bob for taking time to listen to this song , next song project I
hope to have my own drums added to whatever new song I create and thats
going to be fun to work on .

              Thanks Buddy -James

    Hi James.

Yeah i'd agree with James when he says this might be your best bet.  I've noticed that you now incorporate more changes in  our tracks and there are some interesting ones in this one.

     Nice work.

Thanks John , great hearing from you . Hey thanks for checking this one out , yes
I took the extra time to make those changes you talked about and with the mix .
Not totally perfect but the mix I did for this tune is better then then in some of
my past songs , sorry for the slow reply back .
Today I setup my new electronic drum kit , very happy with the kit ! For a few weeks
I have been messing around trying to create something new where I can add some
real drums to the song . Right now I'm trying to get this kit working where I can
trigger some of the drum sounds from my Addictive drums . The mapping is off so
I'll need to edit the pads in the DTX400K module so all the pads play the correct
               drum sounds in Addictive drums.
I tried it with my Steven Slate drum software and the mapping is correct for that
               drum software .

Anyway been busy with this stuff and other personal stuff at home , days fly by
               when your busy !

               Thanks again John  - James
