I'm reliving my rave days

Have been listening to some early 90's hard acid techno very loud on headphones...closing my eyes and I'm back in that sweaty, abandoned warehouse (probably under the influence of some trendy chemical amusement aid) with ear drums almost bleeding an a strobe in my face, wondering whether it was humanly possible to feel any happier and looking around and seeing nothing but a sea of smiling faces....nobody physically or mentally capable of starting a fight, everyone joined together in the ecstasy of music and dance and lights and love.

And then I open my eyes and I'm 40, home on a Saturday night, in my slippers with a mug of hot milk next to me.

Ah well

It was our "60's" and I loved every minute of it.

I used to love dancing in the sunrise. One of life's greatest pleasures....the last time I did anything like this was 10 years ago on Nantucket, a party on the edge of a small forest in the middle of nowhere.

I knew Frankie Bones, his brother Adam X as well as a few of the local guys in L.A.

I was even written up (positively) for the lighting and FX I did for one of the underground parties.

Legendary names! I love the old stuff. Love that old 303 sound.

Speaking of nostalgia, tonight I watched the classic "The Coolest Year In Hell" documentary about '77 in New York. It's an absorbing, fascinating trip back in time and has some incredible old footage as well as some of the old names in disco and hip hop talking about those times. I think it's one of the best things I've watched on YouTube.

I re-lived the extacy of my youth in the party we arranged with our teenage band members when we all reached the respectable age of 50 years. To me it was THE GIG. It's something I'll never forget. I had quite a hard time recovering from it mentally, actually. This year I'll be 60, and I don't intend to tell anyone, to invite anyone or anything. I've lost my appetite for everything.

Sharke you got me started again.

I got clean and sober just as the '90's came about, and as a result I had a phase of regression and partied like I was a naive teenager again.

I was more of a 'dance anthem' (UK Garage?) kind of guy though rather than anything hardcore but the energy around was really uplifiting even without the substances.  It was a really creative era musically as well and much EDM that comes out now isn't that different from what many of those pioneering artists introduced during that decade.

It really was an explosive vibe and there are many tunes from that period that evoke really fond memories for me.
