X1 updates
What's up everyone, just joined the forum. Question, I downloaded Updates for X1, A-D, yet, when I try to install, I get a message: "Cannot find X1, please reinstall correct version", I installed from X1 DVD Disks, and prior to installing, I went to Registry, (Regedit), to find any left over files. That's when I used disk 1 to install x1. I'm using Windows 7 32bit, Dell XPS 420, 4GB Ram, 2.4GHZ. Any help would be appreciated.

Just tried administrator? Same message, "Cannot locate the required version of the program, on this system. Please install the correct version of the program to use this patch.

Was the original installation performed as administrator? Check that the patches are for the correct version (i.e. Producer Patches for Producer, Studio Patches for Studio, Essential Patches for Essential).

I didn't install as administrator, but the updates are Producer X1a thru X1d? Should I uninstall and perform clean uninstall, (regedit), then reinstall as administrator?

Also, you do not need A and B. After installing X1 go straight to C, then D. If you have X1 Expanded you can go straight to D. The instructions are on the web site with the downloads. Steve

Here are the instructions for installing X1 (through update "D"): http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013277?DL=Instructions I would do it like this: **Temporarily disable your internet connection, and also the realtime scanning of your antivirus. (I'd consider this an optional step, as I've never had to do it, but some folks have run into problems by not doing it, so it bears mentioning). 1) Do a clean uninstall of X1 (including manual delete of leftover folders and registry keys). 2) Re-download all of the updates using a download manager. 3) Install (with "Run as Administrator") from X1 disc, then updates, as outlined in the instructions. Reboot your system. **If you disabled the antivirus, don't forget to turn it back on! Good luck!
