This girl.... Kelly Pickler , the country artist, who didn't quite win American Idol but still managed to snag a record contract.... and a product of the fine North Carolina educational system.... well... it's best just to let you see it.... than to try to explain it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cey35bBWXls she makes us so proud.... and that was just one question.... ALL OF THEM were like that... I saw that particular show and was laughing so hard I was crying....

Steve, this sort of thing is more frightening than it is funny, and it is funny. However I wonder how many of our parents and grandparents look at something like this and wonder for what reason did they suffer and so many die in the cause of freedom. I am appalled at the degradation of the education system in America but I see it isn't just here. I just heard a news report, not 15 minutes ago, that the Washington D.C. government school system is considering dropping civics from the curriculum... may as well, college grads these days (for the most part, I don't want to paint with too wide of a brush) don't have a clue about our form of government, don't know who their senators or representatives are and under Bush I saw Jaywalking (Jat Leno) segments like this but random people on the street questioned... did not know who the vice president was. I saw one that I will NEVER forget. I think it was Leno. They questioned college graduates, coming off the stage after receiving a diploma.... a COLLEGE DEGREE... they asked how many moons the earth had. At least one girl did not know. Which is coser the sun or the moon, most did not know. In the last 50 odd years education has slipped into the abyss and I think we are doomed to tyranny because people don't know any better than to embrace it. People believe lies because they know nothing of the truth. They embrace some sort of utopian plan for the future because they don't know history. Our children and grand children are in dire straits. They think we are a democracy. They think that democracy is GOOD... democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding on what to have for dinner. Here we are protected by the constitution, it protects the minority from the will of the majority... and we have all seen the results when the people have no protection. We are giving our freedoms away by default and manifestly by the collective ignorance of younger people and we who are older are fully responsible for allowing it to happen. Yes, it is funny.. until someone shoots their eye out. (so to speak). Can I copy this and put it on Facebook? I apologize if I threw cold water on anything or if I once again stumbled over the bounds of the TOS... but you touched a nerve with me. Thanks for the awesome post. J
