JAVA

They say you should uninstall it now. Outdated, not used by many developers and full of exploitable holes..... now being used by malware to get into your machine and no clicks needed.

I took it off and we'll see how it goes....

I have few apps I like to use, on rare occasions, that run in JAVA.

When ever I need the app I install the latest JAVA and do the work.

    Then I uninstall JAVA.

If you go in to Firefox's Options, and disable Java, you can't log in to this forum. So am I to assume that this forum requires Java?

Herb, you of all people should know you can't trust them (DHS). ;)
Outdated, not used by many developers and full of exploitable holes..... now being used by malware to get into your machine and no clicks needed.
There's been thousands of Windows updates because of this stuff, I wonder why they are really busting on Java?
I took it off and we'll see how it goes....
This forum does use Java scripts.

I uninstalled Java when I read your post this morning and I've been having all kinds of trouble posting, adding links, logging in, the forum not loading at all, going really slow.

I downloaded the latest version of Java and installed it and the forum is back to normal(ish).

That 15 minute ordeal and a reboot the guy in the tech talk article was talking about is bull-shiznit. I timed it, it took 4 minutes to find the download on their web page, download it, and install it, and I didn't have to reboot.

The latest update fixes those security problems mentioned in the article.

As much as Adobe would like Java to go away ... I don't think they are going anywhere, anytime soon. They're up against a very big monster (Oracle).

Was completely causing you problems or just taking up too much space?
(Or am I misunderstanding your sentence andyou're referring to a few days you erased?)
