bounce to tracks is out of sync sounding...

how bout this little issue i am having. when i get my 45 tracks where i want em, with 21 waves and pro-channel and what ever else you can think of all over my mix and all over the 20 buses, when i click track/bounce to tracks. no matter how i set up that puppy, i always get some discombobulated out of sync drum mess? i ve tried highlighting all tracks and clicking apply fx . and still out of sync sounding. i can tell that is is the 64 drummer plug and the ir reverb and and other memory hogs doing it to the snare... just seems like i should be able to mix it down like it says (as it sounds) after the buses. if i apply all f/x and bound all snares to one track and do the same for the kick tracks, vox etc, it's all good. or if i real time bounce to tracks it's also good sometimes... can't figure it out. seems like you should be able to bounce buses as you hear it to one stereo track. when i try to do that, it bounces all buses to the same amount of buses. i am trying to get the GRREAT sound i am hearing out of the bx8's into soundforge 10 and it's becoming a struggle.lol asus i5 - win 7 64bit sp1 bit - 8 gig - delta 1010 & 1010lt,2tb internal sata(daw software) - 1tb external(projects) sonar pro 2a 64bit/32 bit - soundforge

Mike, one question, why are you bouncing everything to tracks?

You might have a perfectly good reason for doing so, but there might also be other viable workflow strategies to accomplish what you're trying to do without any timing discrepancies.

Try setting preferences config file BounceBufSizeMsec to zero.

ok, i am bouncing them down to 2 stereo tracks because i am done mixing and like to master in soundforge. so when i bounce to 2 tracks i simply have always drug the stereo tracks into soundforge after making them red book 16-4100.(i mix in 24-96) never had this problem in x1, but the next post has got me thinking i will try lowering the bouncefufsizemsec to zero. maybe it got toggled. because it sounds all out of sorts with weird f/x going all over the drums.i ll try that tonight. thankx for the ideas guys.

You don't need to bounce, just do an Export, it's much quicker

ok, i've didn't know you could just click export and it will give you a stereo file to listen to or drag to soundforge or t-racks. so let me get this straight, i just highlight all tracks and click edit/export to wave and that's it. if this is true i have been missing the boat bouncing these things to stereo tracks.(which takes 4-ever)

    File > Export

You can either select All (Ctrl + a) or select None (Ctrl + Shift + a)

ok exporting is a really cool new trick. thank you for that guys. but jb was spot on when he mention taking the buffer down to 0. worked perfectly. i really appreciate this forum, and as soon as i can i will pass info down to someone needing help. this forum makes sticking with sonar sense the 90's all worth it. thankx guys

    Glad you got it sorted.

As Bristol Jonesey said, export is the way to go.

I have found that the BounceBufSizeMsec also helps overcomes issues with using fast bounce on export too.

I was having problems with time based effects, certain synth patches, and even MIDI timing going haywire if fast bounce was enabled on export.  Bounce in real time solved this, but was a PITA.  Changing the BounceBufSizeMsec to zero solved them all.

It helps having a fast system if you do this, as it will slow down fast bounce, but not as much as having to do audible bounce in real time.

i started with cakewalk 6 circa 97 with a gina by echo card and i tell ya "i am still learning every week" crazy how much time and effort it takes to learn and get good at mixing with these programs. i have all the respect in the world for the fellas that do this for a living. thankx again guys, the new album will be out in a month or so.

    I know the feeling.

I started with Sonar 6, and am still learning every day.  I read books and watch videos etc. every day, as well as working at my DAW, and still learn something new all the time.

As for mixing, I highly recommend Roey Izhaki's "Mixing Audio" and Mike Senior's "Mixing Secrets".  I read and re-read them constantly.  Scott G's "Sonar Power" books and great, too.

It seems to be a never ending process.  I have spent most of my professional life in and out of studios as a musician, but never really got involved in the technical side of recording much.  Starting up my own modest project studio has been a real eye opener.  There is SO MUCH to learn.

I look forward to hearing your new album, post back when it's done.  Good luck with it.
