Any Scarlett 18i6 Users Here?

Or maybe just someone who knows about Focusrite Mix Control.

If so could you please take a look HERE and see if you might know what's going on?

Thanks.
Mike

Just posted this over there for you. Not sure if it will help...

Did you update the drivers/MixControl software? That is imperative. However there are some complaints about the very latest version. I have the one preceding that and it works fine. Here is what the MixControl software is telling me on the splashscreen:

Scarlett MixControl = Version 1.1.128.0

Driver = Version 2.3.0 API 3.0

Firmware = Version 198

That said have you maybe on one of the other Mix tabs on the top left of the screen thus hiding the active mix? Have you checked your routing settings and compared them to the examples in the manual? The routing settings controls are below the mixer beside the button that says Routing Preset. Right click on those buttons for the various options. You can also choose input options by clicking above the Pan fader in the channel strip.

I don't think it matters whether your inputs are linked (the little chain link button) or not. It's more of a visual feature.

IDK... I got mine set up pretty quickly without any trouble so I haven't had to mess with it too much.

Cheers.

Ah... I missed where you said you have the latest software. If it persists try the previous software/firmware releases I listed. As I said some people were complaining about the newest stuff. You could also PM Matt from focusrite on here. He's pretty helpful but I'm not sure he'll see your post in the Gear forum.

Hey Mike

I posted up there just out of curiosity

Kinda sounds like ya can convert each "track" in Sonar to Mono and then it should be able to pan.

Not familiar with that interface but kinda sounds like its catching just the one side.

My MAudio FTU gives the option for left, right or stereo which is actually channel 1, 2, or 1 &2 mixed together.  I wonder if its kinda the same thing with yours?

Try the Convert to Mono on each track and see what ya get

BTW those faders in MixControl don't affect input at all. They are just for monitor levels as is most of the stuff within the MC.

Ok  I now understand that MC is strictly for creating headphone/monitor mixes.
Got my head wrapped around the whole MC concept.

Now, why the hell can I only pan my buss's and not my tracks?

I don't think it has anything to do with my interface now because the same project works fine in X1.
Next time I fire up the recording PC I'll try the roll back. I hope that fixes it.
I kind of like the idea of being able to pan my tracks.

took me weeks to realise that MC is for external mixes and the manual doesn`t help.
"Unnecessarily complicated and difficult to setup" to quote my DAW builder-but once you`re there and (save your settings somewhere else by screenshot etc) it`s bulletproof.
cheers

Have you turned off the track's stereo interleave button? I did that once and it caused much confusion and gnashing of teeth. I thought it was the input echo. Took a Baker to point out my silliness.

I'm not quite following your problem though as I know very little about panning laws.

Cheers.

I'm not sure if I should post this in all the other threads... lol. Where you at? Don't rollback until you check the interleave buttons!

I got the little sister to this unit about 3 weeks ago, the 8i6.  So far, so good, I am liking it a lot.

Oh, I love my 18i6.

I wonder if something got corrupt with my X2 install.
I wish there was an option like with some software that when you go to uninstall it it asks you if you want to repair, modify or delete the program.

I really don't want to do a complete uninstall/reinstall to see if that's the problem.

First I'm going to try and record a simple 4 bar track at 44/16 and see if for some reason panning works there.
Then burn the next bridge when I get to it.
