A cool special at Audio Deluxe...

Along the usual ongoing Waves/Toontracks/etc special, AD just announced over 50% off on all D-16 Plug-ins.

I've recently demo'ed Fazortan, as suggested by Bit - amazing phaser, for a mere $22. And if you've had your eyes on LuSH-101, now might be the occasion...

It models "Operational Transconductance Amplifiers" which is a fancy way of saying "Op-Amp"... which is a fancy way of saying "transfer function"... which is a fancy way of saying "equation"... which is a fancy way of saying it does math.

    So it sounds good?

D16's effects are a bit different. Not goto effects for standard phaser, chorus reverb etc. They are for when you want something out or the ordinary. They sound very good indeed!

For the first time in months... I'm intrigued by the possibility that something might actually be remarkably different.

I may have to grab it.

    Thanks.

Yep, at 85 bucks, this is getting close to no-brainer territory.  This is a wonderful instrument, IMO.  However, not everybody likes it as much as I (and it's CPU hungry with no multi-threading), so grab a demo copy first.  But you're not likely to see it at a better price for quite a while.

I know the are reputedly different, but actually, Fazortan is the first phaser that makes me go "that's it!" since the long discontinued Phaser Model 88, by Sonic Timeworks.

Operational Transconductance Amplifiers, or OTAs, are not the same as op amps. They are more like voltage controlled current sources, see link below for informative info from a former Moog employee. From my recollection, a typical early example CA3080 was not particularly hifi, but was used for musical projects like envelope controller, auto gain control and filter applications. Probably the latter for a phaser.

I tried the demo and it sounds nice btw....

Scarfed Phoscyon.  A BIG THUMBS UP for Toraverb...and right now it's a steal!!  I use it all the time.  Very deep spacey verbs and textures.  Wowie-wow-wow.

Perfect timing - I actually HAVE had my eyes on LuSH-101...and I just a got a hefty bonus at work.

BTW, anybody in the market for a bit crusher should buy Decimort for $22 post haste.  That's a ridiculous price for a great plugin.  Best in its league IMO.

    Rain, Ol Pal,

    Thanks for the heads up.

Did Toraverb for the $21 special at Audio Deluxe after trashing out the demo.

Very good and useful reverb. Has a unique niche.

Also supports a simple "key" file to authorize. No dongle, no online call/response required.

    Best,
    John
