Select and punch?

Hello all.. I've checked my "tutorial videos" and also the Sonar X2 docs.. and couldn't find it.. if this isn't possible.. may I offer this as a "feature suggestion" for future consideration? I don't remember that DAW it was... but for the project I'm working on now.. it would be most helpful to be able to "highlight" part of the timeline (either in the Edit window.. or time ruler).. and be able to set it to automatically "punch record" in that highlighted section. I'm going to be dropping in bits and pieces as I "assemble" a project and this would save lots of clicking, etc... I only would want to "record" or punch in on the "current" armed track... Thanks all

What you want is only a couple of clicks away - just swipe across the time line, right click and select the option to set your punch points there

It's only one click if you use the Punch Module in the Control Bar

May I humbly suggest some different tutorial videos then. I know of at least one that both Colin's suggestion are definitely in.

if you uncheck the snap to grid....and zoom in, you can set the start and end punch event anywhere you want. With careful editing of the punch points it is possible to "fix" one bad note in a guitar solo or anything else for that matter. No need to re-do the entire solo or even a portion of it.

Very often I leave "snap to" set to measure, and the punch points then fall on the measure lines. 99% of the time that is the prefect place to do the punch and it is seamless in the playback.
