Not my favorite style.
It sounds really good. To me, it needs a melody as what you have seems more of a counter-melody for something. Maybe a vocal line to tell a story?

Although I am just relieved to have actually got to the uploading stage for this tune, as its been sat on my hard drive unfinished for some time.

For what it is, you have a good sounding foundation for something to build on. The percussion pops out which drives this song. But, as has been suggested, it's lacking a melody to bring it all together. You're off to a good start.

Just had a few moments to jam with a piano sound over the top of this track, add a few spoken word snippets and yeah I can see what you all mean. I've got to confess that the main part of this tune has been stuck in my head for so long (16 years) that I just got blinkered to the possibilities.
Just got to be careful now not to rush to finish it, hopefully won't take another year lol :).

When I first started recording my own instrumentals, I was guilty of not creating a melody as well. I would get all into the groove and feel of a "song" and never really finish it. This ios a great start!
