This isn't your father's Cakewalk. "You never shake up an organization by keeping it around." That's mine, you can't use it, but you can think about it.

I've been on the giving and receiving end of business mergers. One thing I have observed is that they are seldom able to change the corporate direction when the old management team is left in place. Usually the smaller partner only keeps a few management types around. The new management types want to have them as consultants. If you don't make it fairly decisive the organization will adopt change very slowly, if at all. I think Cakewalk is in the process of implementing change.

ok,all is well and Willy is alive and kicking-thought i was the victim of a dick/willy joke there for a moment. ps:mccue:can you at least try to be contemporary with your news? ampfixer:am assuming by your reply that Willy left as a result or because of the Roland merger? if so ,for everyone who has read the FAQ`s at the top of this page we should be grateful. cheers

McQ is one of those who likes to make his points via indirect communication. Which can sometimes lead to confusion and misinterpretation (not to mention the occasional hostility from those decidedly in favor of more direct forms of communication). So you just have to know he is not generally talking about what he is talking about. And you just roll with it if you wish to enjoy his considerable wit. For instance, if he is talking about the absence of someone/something, then he might really be talking about the presence of someone/something. Of course this leads to an obvious question: If he appears to be trying to be witty and clever, what does he really want us to think?
In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

That's where I get confused. I assume Mike isn't trying to be disrespectful but at first glance it comes across that way. It sort of implies, "you've taken care of us so well we hadn't noticed you'd gone for nine months". Undoubtedly my stupidity will be pointed out fairly soon.

webbs hill studio i still don`t get it-Willy left Cakewalk in April 2012 so it`s a very belated goodbye and thanks? can someone clear this up? McCue-where are you? Yes, someone mentioned just the other day that they thought Willy had taken a new job. I Googled his name and found that he had indeed found a new position... and so I posted a notice and a greeting. Willy really did a great job of taking care of us. I don't know much about forums but I do know the last time I tried to manage one it was night marish experience where hackers literally spent the whole day trying to ruin the forum I was working on. (a volunteer site for bicycle activism) I don't think I'll ever be able to understand how hard Willy's job was... but I wanted to let him know I appreciate what he did for us. Can you do me a favor... can you edit the post that says "R.I.P." I know it is an innocent mistake... but it lends a macabre air to the thread... and I was hoping to initiate a feel good thread rather than a premature announcement of demise. :-) I'm not telling... I'm asking... and hoping :-) Willy... you ARE the best! all the best, mike

So I guess Willy has his hands full. Willy has outstanding experiences and qualifications. And I 'guess' it looks like he's continuing to studying further in regards to software development, probably more advance fields of such. I've always found him to be very knowledgeable and helpful. He's a great guy, I wish him all the very best!
