How do I work with these files?

I have an album of rhythms (Roots of India) but the clips are not loops. The clip is continuous series of variations starting with a simple one, Variation A. Then there's a space before Variation B, and so on. They come with no indication of the Original Tempo.

1) Since it's not a loop, it doesn't self adjust to the project tempo when added to the file. That makes it very hard to audition.

2) If I turn it into a Groove Clip, the self adjustment to project tempo doesn't work because of the space between variations

I can't believe you have to cut between each variation, discard the unwanted portion, bounce to clips, convert to Groove Clip, specify the beats you intend in the clip and then line it up - just so you can audition them!?

What are you supposed to do?

Thanks - rev

If they are wave or MP3 ( audio) files then you need to copy /paste them together ,Picking each part you want and where. I'd check groove clips, and slide them around so there's no hick -ups in the beat.

You will have to extract a tempo with audio snap, but that type of music would be better off done naturally. Only real reason to have a set tempo is to edit midi using quantize. Drums are the centre of the music so no need to quantize anything anyhow.

    Cactus:

I can't see another way either - but it's insane. I don't mind doing that kind of work if I've found the perfect clip by auditioning it, but if you can't even audition the clip before doing all that work, it makes it ridiculous to work with.

Why I don't work that way,,  Only loops I use are basic drum loops to have a fancy metronome.

I know a lot of people who get good at gluing loops into full songs but as far as I can tell it is a lot of work so not by cup of tea. I think the more you do it the faster you would become.
