Is there a way to preset save/recall EQ settings in Prochannel?

Maybe this defeats the purpose of the prochannel concept...

Since I've been using X1 and prochannel I've grown to like that eq pretty well but one thing that has kept me from fully switching to it is that I don't think it can cycle presets the way I like to work. From what I can tell Prochannel itself is reliant on a global approach to presets where everything changes at once. Am I missing something or is that the only way it is? I can't choose a compressor/settings and then quickly cycle eq presets without losing my compressor settings or the other way around. I've really been liking the prochannel modules but having to start from scratch on nearly everything is very time consuming and a bit more mousy than I prefer.

A perfect example would be getting a kick drum sound where the compressor settings might change a little as I go along through a mix but once I'm in the ballpark it can stay there while I eq. It's the eq that I really like to mess with quickly from snappy to thumpy to scooped  or subby. If I'm going to do this in PC I have to mess around with 20 knobs in a very time consuming process. I can say the I genuinely rate the PC eq to be up there to be a goto eq but I still opt for other plugins when I want to move fast.

Maybe X2 has some remedy for this but I've only just gotten it installed and haven't really done a thing with it.

thanks for your thoughts.

Cheers/

No, you're not missing anything. ProChannel modules can't save individual presets, unfortunately.

For the EQ there is a workaround of sorts......

    1. Set up EQ.
    2. In the CV Ctrl + click drag those settings from the plot window to an empty PC EQ plot.
    3. Save that as a PC preset.

When you next want that preset load it into an empty track and drag the plot setting onto the existing PC that you want it in.

Little long winded maybe but it works.

I'm not at my studio but you're saying you can drag the contents of the graphical curve "window" to another eq "window"? Can I load them similarly? For example if I have set my compressor but want to try some different eq curves quickly I can drag an eq plot into the PC without changing the compressor settings. Still pretty long-winded compared to clicking > or <.

Yes wmb, that will work - it is convoluted but it works. Saves having to completely re-do your EQ every time

So I just missed all the complaints about this? The PC eq is as good as anything I use all the time (mostly Oxford but also Ren EQ for example) but the fact that I can't practically build up a preset library has just kept it from making it's way into many of my templates. I'd largely blame that lack of integration on my part with not being totally comfortable with the PC compressor. It does sound pretty good but I guess I'm just more familiar with the interface/sound of some other plugins that I haven't gotten into it. I will admit it's my own fault for being less than adventurous but it hasn't had the work/reward relationship buildup of other plugs.

Honest to goodness I would love to do an all native sonar mix but I think it would take forever and I think it takes me too long already.

It would definitely be much nicer if you could save presets for the individual ProChannel modules.

Yes, that would certainly be a feature worth having.

Really? Then how are all those ProChannel Presets created in the Sonar ProChannel Preset zone? Is this something only the gurus at Cakewalk can do?

Hey Dave... those presets are for the entire ProChannel, meaning when you load up a preset set it loads a bunch of modules with settings into the ProChannel. But you can't save presets for individual modules by themselves. You can only do it for the entire ProChannel strip. And anyone can create those ProChannel presets.    Scott

Have to admit this is one of my pet peeves with the PC. I was setting up a new song earlier tonight and I just went Keerist! Not this again. Eight guitar tracks and I hand set the EQ on each. Have to give Karls work around a try.

Hmmm maybe a feature request for the future...

Agreed. Appreciate FastBikerBoy's tip on this. Er, thanks Karl.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.
