Hi, why pm? Just put the question out here on the forum and then others may benefit from your query too. Just outline the routing setup. Just saying...

    Hey Fitzj -

I am also a Sonar and PT user.  If you post your question I can try and help you.

Many thanks for getting back to me. I did not want to upset people mentioning Protools.
I did a layout with excel and I would like to know how these inserts relate to sonar Fx bin and sonar  sends.

    Hey Fitz -

The short answer is, you can set everything up the way you have it in PT (without PT bundled effects, obviously)
Aux tracks in Pro Tools, is the same as a Bus in Sonar.  The difference is, in Sonar, you do not have to manually choose an internal bus to route it to.  It's one less step.

Taking your "VocalVerb" Aux track, for example:  In Sonar, create a Bus - name it VocalVerb - Insert your favorite vocal verb in the effects bin.  Now you can create 'sends' on your vocal tracks, to your Vocalverb bus, just like in ProTools.  You adjust the amount of "send" on each track, same as ProTools.  ProTools has a fader for this, Sonar has a knob for this.  Same thing, different graphic.

You can set all your Busses up in Sonar, just like you set up your Aux tracks in ProTools.  As stated above, in ProTools, you have to choose an internal bus for the input of the Aux track, in Sonar, that step is not needed.

Let me know if this answered anything or not.

That's  great very much appreciated for your time and screen shots.
I see protools console is very much like a proper physical mixing desk with aux channels.

I should of noted, in the ProTools picture, all of the green tracks are Aux tracks.  In the Sonar picture, the busses are on the right, as labeled.

Whats really cool about the PT console, is that you can add color :)

I see that very  nice awful pity Sonar took it away. You can add color Icons but its not that good compared to PT. And great markers as well in color.

Ive got colors set in SONAR to where

    Tracks
Audio, Midi & softsynths are different colors

    Busses are Red

    Mains are Yellow

It just changes it in the lower section but when you have allot of folders and tracks it really makes it easy to see when your on the wrong one

    Audio Tracks - Blue
    Soft Synth/MIDI-Green
    Busses & MASTER - Red
    Mains - Yellow

I dont use the little picture Icons cause they just take up real-estate and I tend to look more at my Labels if needed. Keep 'em short, sweet and to the point for fast visual

    Hit Preferences,

    Scroll down to Color

When the screen comes up you can select the views you want(I think it is Defaulted to "ALL") to change color in and it will list each component.  Just select the color you want and apply. I always select the View Im working in that way your not overwhelmed with the list of all views, easy to get out of whack  LOL

I would do them one at a time cause some of the names are tricky

ALWAYS close out and reopen Sonar for changes to take effect.  They will not change until you do that

I use folder allot but have never tried messing with them as far as colors are concerned,

It would be nice if they would color all tracks in Console View the same as the folder is assigned while keeping it visibly organized like I have mine setup

I might try it just to see what happens LOL

Ping Pong Dealy emulating old analogue console.

    Protools Way.
Create two mono bus channels Left Delay and Right Delay.

Create 2 aux channels same name and pan 1 left and 1 right, outputs to bus left delay
and aux 2 to bus right delay.

Put a mono delay on aux left delay and a mono delay on the  right aux under inserts.

On the vocal track insert a send and send it to delay Left on aux only.

Then on the left delay channel send to Right Delay.

Then on the right delay channel send  it back to the Left delay.

Very nice effect as it can be further enhanced with eq etc.

Now all this work to a certain point in sonar.
I am  able to put an insert on the bus delay left and send to bus delay right, but I cannot send it back with an insert on bus delay right?

What is the best way to implement this setup in Sonar x2.
