Trauma

I'm just wondering.  I am sitting in an airport terminal for hours at a time with "easy listening" non-vocal approximations of songs blasting at 120 db throughout every cubic inch of this human trap.  They just kicked off a Muzak version of "It's not unusual" (Tom Jones) only Lame(r).

I'm wondering if someone may have mistaken the War on Terror with the War on Taste.  If so, we appear to be winning.

If you were single, I'd say "down a few jars, chat up some birds, and share some peanuts"....
Since that's not an option (I'm guessing here)......plugin your iPhone, iPad, or whatever before blowing up their hi-fi sound system.

Lack of taste in an airports muzak?  It's not unusual.

It's not just the airport lounge "muzak" cover versions that bother me. It's the ones that make the charts these days as well. Over the last few years there has been a spate of utterly bland and pointless cover versions of classic tunes (Big Yellow Taxi springs to mind), usually by very generic female singers I have to say. I'm always left wondering what in God's name they thought they were adding to the song by taking all of the character out of it and doing it again with that awful American Idol singing style and garden variety Top-40 instrumentation and production.

But I guess they're doing it with classic movies as well these days aren't they.
