Need help adding tracks to existing session files.
I have a disc of all my session tracks. I import them to MC6, they all load. I then click Insert Audio Track, get my input levels good, etc. The problem comes when I want to record this additional track. It records all other tracks onto the new track I just created, as well as recording the new lead I'm trying to record. I just want to listen to all the other tracks while I record my new one and it be a standalone track like everything else. I've fiddled with anything that seems relevant, but can't make it happen. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

Some basic info on your system and sound card would be helpful. Essentially, you need to select the proper input to the track. This will be from the options available to you when you click on that new track's input. By selecting the input from your interface/soundcard, it will only accept the music from the soundcard and not from the other tracks. I don't have MC6 on this machine.... it's on the other one. Have you watched the MC6 videos yet on this web site? http://www.cakewalk.com/CakeTV/Music-Creator.aspx

I should have known to put some basic specs up. Sorry about that. Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Windows 7 64 bit I believe my inputs are set correctly. I followed this little guide: http://www.cakewalk.com/S...mp;man=Creative%20Labs I do have a message that pops up when I try to change audio modes through the sound card's control panel. My PC will also lock up completely if I try to fool with the modes while MC6 is open. I'll see if I can figure out how to post an image.

Well, I can't get the message to pop up now. The gist of the message is "Creative Xfi has been disconnected(?)." then it gives an option of selecting different inputs (I think). Sorry about the vagueness. I can't get the popup again and it evidently only happens sometimes. Barring the popup, when it does work I still can't get my new track recorded as a standalone.

Welcome to the forum. You'll need to go into the SB options and deselect WhatUHear. That is an almost-universal Sound Blaster default setting that sends all sound to the same input, thus recording everything on the new track. At least that's how it was in the last decade. Good luck!

Beagle what do you mean by "recorded as a standalone"? my assumption was that he wanted to record this audio track in a normal fashion..... just the mic or instrument he wanted going in.... not the other tracks included. Basic multi-tracking. Greg's answer above in #5 will likely be the solution....sound blaster card ...default setting......etc....
