Missing Inputs after upgrade

Hello,

I have encountered another problem after my upgrade to Sonar 7.    I used to be able to record off of the motherboard audio bus, but the input is missing now since I installed S7.

Why did this happen?    Not sure what info to give other than my system specs.

Dell Studio Laptop with Dual-Core Pentium T4200 @ 2.0GHz/ 3 GB's RAM running on Windows 7 Ultimate with an Audigy Advanced Motherboard for sound.  System also has IDT Hi-Def Audio as well.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

TheBadger

Did the Wave Profiler run when you loaded SHS 7?
Did you select the ins and outs you want to use in Options>Audio>Drivers? And the sound card you want to use as Playback Timing Master and Recording Timing Master?
Do you have something plugged into the input? I hate that modern computer sound card inputs don't register in SONAR unless something is plugged in. It's like they're not even there.

Hi Greg,

As stupid as it sounds, I'm not sure if it's plugged in.    Got a bunch of gear for xmas
and am still working through the setup config.

Having problems with drivers, compatibility, and some hardware chains.   You'd think now a days with
standardized formats, things would work together "Out Of The Box".

I have so much to bloody learn it's crazy.    I'm used to doing live sound, so the digital world is taking some getting used to.   I'm so glad there is this forum, and people like yourself who are willing to share thier knowledge.

Anyway,  I'll check the cables and make sure everything is plugged and powered then I'll fire up Sonar and I'll let you know.

Thanks again,

Jeff Badger

Hi,

I'm really stumped as to what's going on with this darn thing.

I now have outputs missing from projects that I am sure had two seperate outputs.
I am talking about the tracks to the right side of the console view.   I had the main outputs, and an individual Headphones output that could be assigned a seperate out.

The headphones bus is now missing.    What is going on?    Splicing with reel to reel is almost beginning to seem easier.  LOL.

Any suggestions as to where to start looking?

Oh, and in answer to Greg's posting above, yes it was plugged in.

Thanks,

Jeff

In my program (SONAR Home Studio 6) whenever I open the Console view, something is missing. Either the buses or the Main output.
All I have to do is click the Buses or Mains button on the left, twice, to get them back.

Hi Folks,

Found the solution to this problem.   It was the output driver selection.  I guess the default had one of my output busses de-selected.   Checked it off on the template and saved over it.

Have no problem with the inputs/outputs anymore.

For those who have had similiar problems,  it was under "Options"/"Audio"/"Drivers" tab.  Simply select the inputs and outputs you want to see in your project.    If you don't see your device listed there it is because it was not seeing it when you started the program.   I was having this problem with my Edirol UA-700.  I make sure it is turned on before I turn on the computer, and it works fine.    Hope this helps someone else.

I would also like to say thanks to those that have helped me out with their advice.

Have a great one everybody,

TheBadger
