I'd be grateful if someone could help me - after my last post, all I seem  to have managed to do is mess up my settings looking for a solution to the last question - now I have no sound whatsoever and I cant record - why is this so difficult to get started ? All I want to do is to lay down a basic demo and after installing barand new equipment, all I seem to have is bought myself one big head ache http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=2769904&mpage=1#2770498

First, is SONAR 8.5 LE a 64-bit program? There may be both 32-bit and 64-bit versions on the disk; which did you install?
Then go to the Samson web site and download and install the latest drivers for the mic/audio interface and for your operating system.
Then go to the Cakewalk support site and download the latest updates for SLE 8.5 if there are any.
Once that's done, in SONAR, go to Options>Audio and change the Driver Mode to ASIO if it's available.
Under Options>Audio, select the G-Track's drivers as both input and output. Connect your speakers and/or headphones to the mic.
Under Options>Audio, select the G-Track as both the Recording Timing Master and the Playback Timing Master.
You will have to close and re-open SONAR for the changes to take effect.
    Let us know what happens...

This is ridiculously difficult and exasperating ! the mic and recording were working fine when I forst bought this and tested it. Now ive messed around with the settings for thie SI instruments I now have neither recording nor instruments - I have no clue where I'm at with settings now :
I tried changing to ASIO , that doesnt show up anything , I went to the samson website for driver updates and that just gives some instructions about how to update but when I follow those instructions the menus are not the same , so I get to the point of browse my computer but I have no clue where im supposed  to be looking - I darent upload the disc again - Ive done it 4 times now and had to register the same product every time I do it . And the answer to your Q about 64bit OS , yes I did install the correct version - I specifically asked for it in the shop . I feel like Ive bought a new watch and just pulled it all apart  to find out how to wind it up !

Have you read Fogs sticky on this forum about USB mics? Maybe there's something useful.
There's been lots of threads about problems with USB-mics.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
