ARC 2 hissing issue [SOLVED]
Hi, I insert ARC 2 into the master bus and suddenly there's a strong hissing sound coming from the left monitor. It's similar to John Cale's hissing in "Black Angel's Death Song," which suggests that it could be kinda cool but actually it isn't . It goes off after 2 seconds then comes back again after 5 seconds, then stops again... When I first did the measurements and used the plugin, I didn't notice this behavior. It happened suddenly, and started after I had a problem with my Faderport. The slider arm would go up and down when I tried opening any project, preventing anything from opening. The Faderport issue (driver problem) fixed itself miraculously, but this ARC hiss is very weird. Can there be any connection with ARC and Faderport? Anyone had this before? Should I just do another ARC measurement? Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i7 3770k, 16 GB, SSD+hard drives, Win 7 Pro 64-bit, Sonar Producer X2a, Roland Quad Capture

Are you sure it is not simply a plug-in that is not registered, running in demo mode? Some plug-ins would revert to demo mode after x amount of days and make the cycling noise sound.

Ben, I believe that Mike means one of the other plug-ins in the project not ARC itself. Maybe you're test driving something and forgot it's a demo? Does the noise stop if you turn ARC off? Have you tried deleting ARC from the project and reinserting again? Has ARC been running fine for a while and now it started this behavior or is this the first time it's being used? Does it happen on every project or just the one? Try to recall if any changes or updates or new hardware/software have been recently added. I'm just throwing some thoughts out there. Mike

+1 to what Mike said, IK plugs will sometimes "unregister" themselves, go into demo mode and make noise..

Thanks for the replies and thoughts thrown in. Much appreciated. No, I don't have any other demo plugins that I'm test driving. The noise stops when I turn ARC off. I tried deleting ARC from the project then reinserting again - no banana. ARC ran fine the first couple of times I tried it. It happens with every project. The changes that occurred was the Faderport craziness issue. I might check out what musicman100 said - perhaps the plugin "unregistered" itself.

Click the little padlock in the lower left corner (iirc). I'm pretty sure you'll see Arc 2 isn't authorized. Run IK's Authorization Manager. Had the same problem when I upgraded to ARC 2. Tom

Thanks, Tom. That's right. After I got a confirmation email from IK when I first installed the plugin I assumed it was authorized. As I recall, I had an issue with the Authorization Manager timing out. mikedocy was correct.

Glad our support got you squared away. Authorizations can be a bit tricky from system to system.

Hi IK Obi, Not quite squared away yet but I've at least established the root cause with everyone's help. I've now got two confirmation emails from IK after trying it again just before. I'm told the number of authorizations is now up from yesterday but the thing is still unregistered. I guess I'll have to contact IK Support - is it possible to remove the unused registrations? The members on this forum are so helpful and patient. Much appreciated.

IK says that you only have a certain number of authorizations but if you contact them they will provide you with more. Mike
