Sonar X2 - How to STOP Linking MIDI clips (CTRL+drag)

Hi Everyone! :)
Does anyone know of a way to STOP having MIDI clips be linked??
Whenever I CTRL+drag a clip within a MIDI track I always have to right-click and manually "Unlink Clips" - SO annoying!!
When generating drum patterns obviously you don't want them linked... the patterns are similar but you more frequenly than not want to mutate them so you have lots of rhythmic variations (and or extra percussion instruments, accents)
 
Note: I have checked the obvious, Track View Options\Drag & Drop Options\"Copy Entire Clips as Linked Clips" is UNCHECKED,
it is STILL linking MIDI clips regardless.

Yes, they are Step Sequencer clips...   but a clip is a clip right?? Why discriminate against SS when MIDI and Audio clips can have their default changed?
 
(I thought SS was just an editor for a Normal MIDI clip... didn't think it was an actual type - guess not;  I'm only intermediate at MIDI in SonarX2 right now)

I would leave more of them linked if it left the Pattern name over the clip and just added x2 instead of completely obliterating the name.... Then when I look at the track I can't tell what the "whole pattern chain" looks like. Hmmm 4 measures of "x4" wth is that???
 
The other dumb behavior is if I DID want to leave several linked but my last (UNRELATED) drag and link (i.e. x2) I want unlinked, it unlinks EVERYTHING to the left of it....   So much for using references to memory to save space. Thank Gods I have a HUGE hard drive. ;)
