MP3 Tagging In Continuous Music

I'm currently working on a project consisting of around 12 songs. As there is a common theme running throughout this collection some of the songs will be joined or cross-faded together, similar in technique to that used by Pink Floyd. My question is, can anybody recommend someway (or product) of being able to add MP3 tags to the start/finish points of the different songs so they can be individually selected later? This would then mean I can master large chunks of 3 or 4 songs at once in one Sonar project.

Not the best way to explain it but it is Saturday!

Thanks

Rich

AFAIK, MP3 metadata resides entirely in the file header and applies to the entire file, so one set of tags for the whole collection. If you want to crossfade one song into the next, as far as the MP3 player is concerned they comprise a single song.

Contrary to popular opinion, MP3s are not a 1:1 replacement for CDs.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Hi Rich - 'just joined the forum!

How about naming the songs with exclusive prefix as possible and then assign a suffix or prefix of progressively increasing digits or letters to set them in order, i.e:
ABC 1 -My Concept Album  - 'I was born on a Tuesday'
ABC 2 - My Concept Album -'I hated everyone by Wednesday'
ABC 3 - My Concept Album - 'Thursday wasn't getting any better'
All my tagged MP3 stuff comes with a miniscule pause at start and end of tracks anyway, ruining the much-pained crossfades. I make sure that all my car journeys exceed that of the album...
