Was it me or the Forum Software?

Couldnt get in this moring for hours?

Last night I had to unistall Chrome-what a mess, think it got corruped.

Set everything up in IE,  all my links.  They all worked good as usual.

This morning the only problem I had was trying to get into the forum.  I could get in but then IE would throw up a popup window saying something about "Cant find Object".  Could hit close but bamm right back up again.  It would get caught in a restarting IE loop andthat stupid popup?

So was it the forum or me? everything else worked fine and never seen this before

I get that all the time. Sometimes this forum is the only site that won't open, the timer just spins until I stop it, sometimes I'm reading a post and it just bunks out for no reason.

    Hope it doesnt continue LOL

That popup is the only thing I can mess with when it does it,  I hit the "X" to close it but it pops right back up.  I have to kill IE from the task manager to escape the loop.

A couple of times I've had the forum software change its theme without me touching it. I open the page and it's rocking some horrible orange color instead of the mellow blue I'm used to.

I've had that happen. Freaks me out because I get all happy thinking there's new forum software, then I get all sad realizing nothing has really changed.

On the other hand ... this forum isn't really all that bad.

I used to get that problem with not being able to load the forum in a web browser. I installed the latest Java update and it stopped doing it. Might want to try that.

Sorry - that was my fault.  I tried something Strummy posted that was supposed to show me Bapu's top 50,000 posts and everything came to a halt.

I think it's that thread with the hundred jillion views and posts bogging the server down.

There was a Java update that killed certain forums (amongst them YouTube) some time ago. It was v11.3

Un-installing and going back to v11.2, then turning off automatic updates cured a multitude of ills.

You know, the REALLY funny part is that I actually tried it and it DID stop the forum for a bit!  Ironically, it returned with no results (I probably had the "Funny posts only" filter on).
