"Dance Dance!" Pop song

Hi All

I have been working on this one for a while and now I need you guys to let me know what you think of it.  Appreciate any comments on anything you think I can improve on it.

It is a coincidence that I am posting this song that goes with Valentine's Day.

I never thought I'd hear a song with 'basket weaving and ceramics' in the lyrics! Nice happy song Vincente, got a bit of a Pet Shop Boys vibe.

This would be a great kids song. Something on an early morning TV show, or playing in the background of a daycare center. It is light, positive and accessible.

Really cute tune, Vicente.  Appropriately titled too, apparently.  It takes a shotgun to get me up to dance  but my girlfriend LOVES to dance, so, not far into the tune, she piped right up: "Now THAT is a GREAT song for dancing."  I hid under the desk for fear she was gonna' come and drag me out onto the floor.  A serious toe tapper even for an old fart like me.

Vicente, you have a great ear for pop music, and this is mixed quite uniquely for a pop song.  I think this is a fresh, original sound, and I applaud you for that.  Way cool!

JamesSg1213 - Thanks for listening.  I hope you get the age of the person that this song is talking about
foxwolfen - Yeah for positive lyrics
Phil - I am not that young any more and close to being an old fart too and I do not dance either!
Lynn - This song was challenging because it is a pop song but I did not want to copy any body.  Thanks for listening.

    Vicente,

Nice job, sounds very 80's and I mean that as a compliment, that was a great era for good music.   I like your arrangement and mix.

Has an 80's mix sensitivity to it. Lots of fun Vincent.

Your singing is getting better and better.

Vicente -  My only suggestion is that I think it would snap more if you sang it in a little bit higher key.  This is cool tune.  Very bouncy and I like that.  It makes my foot tap.  Some  harmonies would be good but this is feel good song!  Some cool stuff going on in the backing track.   Excellent guitar work as always.

Well done, loud clear mix, big fat round bottom, just the way I like it... Good performances all the way around and great engineering.

    Hi, Vicente,

This is a very uplifting, well written, and performed pop song with a great positive message and fun vibe!

The instrumentation and vocals are excellent, and the mix sounds modern, clear and very professional.  I really like the playing and tone of the guitar solo at the ending, too.

    Great song, thanks for sharing!

notnat - Thanks for the kind words and for listening
markno999 and Bapu - Yes, now that you mentioned it is quite 80's.  I guess subconsciously that is my era.  Thanks for the feedback
daryl - I don't think I can sing a bit higher, but I may agree that most pop songs are sung very high.  There is a faint harmony in the chorus, maybe I can bring it up.
Robbie  - Thanks for the feedback
Bob - Thanks again and for noticing the guitar solo at the end.  We are both guitar players at heart.

I guess I should have mentioned the story behind this song.  It is about my father-in-law.  He is 96 years old and quite a frisky character.  He had given all of us a hard time.  But at that age he mellowed out and was in a wheel chair.  However, during the wedding of his grand-daughter, suddenly he wanted to dance.  We all said what?!  But he was insistant and determined.   So we helped him get up and we were all nervous about him falling.  So we held him on both arm and he danced!  Everyone in the family joined in and had a lot of fun.  I sat and watch in wonder:  he is still the same person inside who loved to dance.  It was definitely a lovely night.

A nice throwback to the years past. I hear Beatles influences as well as Ah-ha. I never thought I would hear those two in combination.

    Excellent tunage!

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

Guitarpima  - Thanks for listening.  Actually it really has more of A-ha than the Beatles.  However, the main influence for the style was Ocean Eyes.

Nice clear mix Vicente. I would maybe back the vocal level off a little, but sounds well balanced otherwise to me.

totally took me back to high school dances in the 80s!  that's a good thing. ;)  the guitar at the end was maybe a bit too distorted for the piece.  since we're talking 80's i'd think about an andy taylor kind of tone... and some roto-toms!!! nice work!

Booming and Mark - Thanks for the kind words and for listening.  This piece was a stretch for me, but I always wanted to produce something like this.
Swamptooth - Yeah, that guitar at the end was not so 80's but oh well!
