Alan Parsons MCTS - Full report when I return
Okay Gentlemen! I'm getting ready to jump in the car and head for Nashville! I'm going to spend a couple of days at Ocean Way Recording with Alan Parsons. Myself and a few others get to participate as "assistant engineers", in the production of a song from start to finish in one of the finest commercial studios in the world. This should be quite a learning experience I'm sure! JTW

If his classes are half as good as his instructional video, you're in for a treat. The thing I loved about his video is that is was about the art and humanity behind the technology. For people who never had a chance to participate in real sessions with real musicians in big studios, I'm sure it's an eye-opener. Tell him I said hi, and that you heard he was doing mic placement for me at AES [inside joke, he'll chuckle].

I didn't have the budget for Alan's MCTS, or I'd be there, too. It's about 10 minutes from where I work.

It looks more like a casino than a studio; in fact, that's what I thought it was at first.

Puig is sort of like Chris Lord-Alge. They both have had years of collecting really good gear and getting mix-jobs that people seek them for, not the other way around. So, it's no surprise this room exists. This room has one super-gem is the Fairchild Compressor he has. You can find one like it, but not exactly like his. It's buried in that room somewhere!
