    I know she's on facebook.
What we should do is anyone and everyone here with a FB account should send her a friend request.
Then we can all tell her how much we miss her here.

You're right... the vocals in Paste are REALLY good, the whole song is good and electronica isn't my thing. Good music is good music though. Count me impressed.

I have expanded my horizons today. It started earlier when I listened to Jules' song Paste. Then I heard Cian sing on a collab with her. I listened to a LOT of good music in the songs forum but ended with Cian's Fly and Follow which brought a tear to my eye at the end... no reason for it except for the emotional power of a great performance. I was going to catch up on Cakewalk videos and finish Karl's SWA video... but I am glad I did this instead. I am inspired.

    Thanks to all.

Check out a couple of songs she does with someone called USB.  They're also on Sound Cloud.

I saw tham and I will. Music is so amazing when it is well done. I normally wouldn't listen to electronica but would consider buying that song because the lyrics and vox are so real. I really try to not be close minded about music. I was when I was young... I was like, "rock and roll has no horns" IMO back then (when I knew everything) the only good music was guitars, bass, and drums. The only thing I really cannot listen to now is "thug" music. Music just about mo money, with dirty lyrics, or something like that.
    Anyway thanks... I will listen!

Yeah, I seen some activity from her on Soundcloud. I haven't had the time to intently listen but I will. I always evetually get around to listen to the folks on my list.

I'm guessing she is busy. I am sad to say I haven't been over to the songs forum in awhile. My bad.

Jules has been using Reason a lot lately and I got the impression she did not think it appropriate to show her work in the Cake forums.

    (Wookiee could also be wrong)

Me thinks we need to encourage her that it is the music not the method we want to hear.

Re:Has anyone seen Jubilee lately? 2013/02/11 15:39:50 (permalink)
Hi, boys and girls!  I'm still around.... But thanks to that sweet Wookiee and Herb and Philz and GarryKiosk over on The Facebook for letting me know that there were concerns!

I have nothing to say for myself. :(

Honestly, I just got very busy a few months ago (my father inlaw passed from dementia- thank GOD he was finally able to GO- my mom has been dealing with breast cancer etc... It's all ok though, thank you very much) kept a low profile for awhile, and then felt sorta out of the loop.  I have actually been checking in on the CH here and there, but haven't said anything.  It's sorta hard to jump in on the In Jokes when you don't know the punch line. Or your spaghetti sauce is boiling over.  Or there's a small, glazed donut nosed kid tugging on your jeans for a Kleenex.  Blah blah blah.

So yeah, I have gone to a dark side, as Wookiee mentioned-- for what I do, Reason works for me without much hassle. It's pretty spectacular for electronic based things.  It's intuitive for me.  I feel like a magician- like I'm conjuring up simple, cheap tricks that leave the audience amused.  I loved Sonar for audio.  But not for midi-- I could struggle for hours just to make it DO something and then never be truly happy with it in the end.  It's easier now to make the stuff in my head appear in the music.

So here's the deal-- nearly every one in the Reason Forums has a Soundcloud page, and they USE it constantly to listen and critique within Soundcloud, itself.  I've found it to be really easy to just hang out there and listen when I get a chance.  I know that many of you follow me there as well, so I just kinda figured you were seeing it if you wanted to.

No, I haven't posted in the songs forum here for ages, simply because there are those that would not want to see me unless I constantly comment on their work. I realize that does not apply to most of you in the CH.... but the biggest reason that I don't play along in the Cake Songs forum is that Soundclick does not work for me in those quick moments on my iPad when I get a chance to listen (with headphones, on the couch while someone needs help tying their shoelaces and stuff). And so many of the songs posted are Soundclick.  I just hate Soundclick. So, I've kind of formed a new circle of electronic people that I've been following. But if you are on Soundcloud, I'm likely following you as well... At least I'm following everyone there that I know is there.  Hit me up if I've missed you.

You guys really are the nicest group of people I've ever known online.  Even when you bicker and fight and have differing viewpoints.  It's nice to be part of that family.  It's even nicer that you noticed I was "missing".

I'm sorry I have been so neglectful.  :)

Nice to see you Julianna! Soundclick is actually disappearing as the site of choice here, or so it seems to me. These days I use Box.net (and I've seen quite a few others doing the same) or my own site 'cos both allow streaming at 320kbps.

Hey Jules... Paste is amazing. Did you hear the song that Cian posted before he left? Fly and Follow. Wow...
I saw he sang in a collab with you too. You both have great voices... yours is especially engaging when you hit the low notes. Good work, don't be a stranger... and if knowing the punchline were a requirement for posting.. I would never post.

Julien, I DID see that, because I follow Cian on SoundCloud.  ;)

But he and I have never worked together... You might have seen a re-post on my stream from Cian and JamesYoyo (Hammertoe on Soundcloud).  The newer version of Soundcloud allows you to re-post other people's music to share.  Very helpful in a collab instance, like this one:

    https://soundcloud.com/dave-909/dave909

(Yes, the first rapper is rapping in Dutch... And no it isn't gangsta.  Kinda chill, actually).

But those collab re-posts usually have my name on it. Like the above.

I re-posted Cian and Yoyo's song because it was awesome. :)

    Hi JB.

Nice to see you chime in although I kind of knew where you were.

There's some really sensible stuff in your post up there in that things just change and people move on, nothing stays the same for ever.

I know when I don't show up as often folk that want to stay in touch tend to do that anyway, and although like you say for me this has been one of the best bunches of folk to hang around I've ever been part of, it's kind of losing it's appeal for me and I kind of lost it with the songs forum here quite awhile back for much of the same kind of reasons you gave.

It's not that there's anything wrong with this place or the people in it although I'd say there was less diversity of characters, fewer people around than a few years back, it's just that my particualar interests are being fulfilled more and more elsewhere as time passes.  That's aside from the bickering that I've got far to involved with recently and it doesn't seem to do anyone any good least of all me.

That, and my energy levels being somewhat diminished as well as being involved in some technical and less musical stuff has made me less able to contribute as much directly musically as I would have liked, but I don't feel I have had the challenges you've had facing your personal life that you've outlined there on top.  You are a miracle worker and no mistake.

It's nice to read a catch up like that from you though, you are a big and much loved figure around these parts for sure.

Anyway it's just good to see you around.

julibee ...

Thanks for this ... I think you just helped me figure some things out, and why I have a hard time with things ...

I really need something that will just record and then (very simply!!!!!) allow me to add more to it!  I have only been able to do this "radio-style", which is nice and I can do things "live" which is GOOD for me, so I can take out the self-consciousness when doing a poem and such.

    Welcome Back ...

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
