Question about MIDI overdubs
Can't believe I don't know this at this point, but here goes: I have a MIDI clip with bass and snare. All I want to do is overdub some hi-hats into the same clip. So I line up the transport, hit record, and perform the hats. Only they're entered into their own clip on top of the original clip. I don't want to create a new clip, just overdub the hats into the existing clip. I'm sure I've done this before but for some reason it's not working. Is there a setting for this?

Bounce to Clip. It will merge all of you overlaid clips into one clip, after the fact. What you are seeing is normal when recording new data in the same track.

At first glance, it does seem clumsy. But not near as clumsy as trying to extract the notes you just flubbed from an otherwise perfectly good clip. Not that I've ever done that, mind you.

It's not too bad for annoyance to bounce - it's what I do as well. Bob Bone
