Ambient analogue synthesiser pastoral dub

https://soundcloud.com/crx091081gb/postrush

Used a lot of pro channel modules on this, really liked what the console emulator did to my drums. Used the new CA2A on one of the snares too but can't remember which now.

Very chill. Laid back and ambient. A little long given the relative lack of change in the music, but it sits well in the background and can be used while working with little distraction. I used to stream this kind of thing all day from Groove Salad (web radio). Enjoyable.

Yeh it was even longer before I edited it down, probably didn't need the coda but I left it in. Restraining my self indulgence for 8 minute opuses is an on going quest. Cheers for the feedback.

As Shad said this is state of mind or state of doing kind of tune.

Perhaps a little more ear candy would help, but what would I know.

    Thanks for sharing.

Yeh you might be right, I was going to get some field recordings and mix them in but I'd been working on it for a month in the evenings, getting the production polished and felt I just had to finish it and put it out to get some feedback. I think I'll live with it a while then bandcamp it with any minor tweaks done then.

I agree that it's a bit long, but I enjoyed the listen.  It's a perfect mood setting song for any number of situations.  It it was pared down and paired with a video, it could be something special.

    All the best,

This had a sort of "Tangerine Dream" vibe to it.

I enjoyed this, but i would have liked a bit more variation in the percussion.

This track would benefit greatly by pairing it with a video.

Thanks Lynn, blipp. I've been meaning to get back into Jitter and make a video so this will probably happen, I think you're right Lynn it could be more compact and probably better for it. I got half way through producing it and didn't feel like I could face going back and re-arranging an umpteenth time.

You're right blipp, I think when I come back to it I'll attack the drums with a sampler and try and inject some percussive variation. I kind of realised I'd got stuck in a loop and then tried to apply the dub delay to create some variation. I think it probably needs one or two more elements that can come in and out.

Cheers for the tips, I'll come back to it and apply some more polish once I've taken a break and made something else (I've heard it too many times now - it's driven me mental).

Oops you found me out, I never got used to the PRV so I still do all my sequencing in Cubase/Notator then record the signal into Sonar for mixdown. I've measured the jitter and Sonar is better than my ahem *other* DAW (Live - which I've really come to hate for its sloppyness over the years) with a midi jitter of under 4ms but the ST gives me sub 1ms jitter and I never get distracted firing up the internet when I should be sequencing.

I like to treat my Sonar projects like multitrack tape, my synths like performers and my Atari like a conductor.

    I should add a Sonar X2 tag you're right.

Nice.  I see you've cut it down to 6 minutes, which didn't sound too long for this type of music.  Nice rhythm and nice sound selection.  Nice separation.  I like the idea of adding some ear candy - field recordings etc. to add some real world air to it (among other things).

Cheers AT, it was actually 5:34 but I forgot to cut the tail off in Soundforge after bouncing the track out, I dunno why soundcloud draws the waveform like that, the last 30 seconds are silent.

Yes, A bit long, but very ambient sound to this and a nice laid back backing track for something better yet to come. Nice textures and spread. The mix is very nicely done and the overall sound is smooth.
