Automation will not write, waiting on reply etc so i can get some work done !
Okay trying to give sonar x2 another go, yet another major issue for me pesonally in X2 still to this day i have not been able to do much by way of a song since V6 it is getting worse, although this time i am hoping it is an over site although not much that could be here. I can add automation parameter manually from the list, butr with many of my vsti its just way to difficult that way you need to be a mind reader more often than not to understand sonars abrieviation for the parameters wello over confused. so I have decides to find my parameter first in the tradional manor saves spending eons on testing half the parameters in the list, so thsi is what i done according to the Manuel, thought i would have to press record somewhere, but it say not: 1. Click a track's Write Automation button to enable automation writing for that track. 2. Press Play to start playback. 3. During playback, simply make the changes to the parameters in realtime, using either your mouse or a control surface. 4. To disable automation writing, stop playback and click the track's Write Automation button again. When you play back, the parameters will update automatically. Straight forward yet it does nothing what so ever no autmation is made what so ever, any Idea , despwertae need to solve this, yet again i sit here staring at a impossible situation where i can not go any further its just one thing after another, i absolutley love the layout and apperance it is ideal for me with the inline etc, but i just want it working, please say i have overlooked something ??????????????????????????? In this case i have used Tone2 Electrax synth (I dont use cracks), but its the same for every vst/vsti, x2 will not wright automation except manually and as I mentioned that is a pain in the but to do. Thanks

heres the problem im having lately,i dont see fader movements anymore? on playback after automation,i turn the W button off after im done but i dont see the fader moving, its tough to see your adjustments. is there a way to turn this on? and why it it when i click on the tracks W button,my fader jumps to zero ? dont believe im hi-jacking this thread as the OP already got his answer, besides it may be his next question when it comes to volume adjustments.

Have you tried inserting the envelope manually? I stopped using the "write automation" function years ago. I found that by adding the envelopes manually and then inserting nodes manually, I had surgical precision on the control of the envelope. Beside that, it looks cleaner.

Sounds like you're in offset mode - are there any telltale + signs all over your console? -5

and how do i get out of offset mode? The "o" key (for offset) will do it, and there's also a button in the control bar (has a little envelope symbol on it).

It's a good idea to train yourself to turn offset mode OFF every time you make an offset adjustment - all too easy to leave it on and before you know it your entire mix is all over the place and you have no idea what's happening anymore.

I found that by adding the envelopes manually and then inserting nodes manually, I had surgical precision on the control of the envelope. Beside that, it looks cleaner. I do both: I record the automation, then manually "clean up" the nodes. There are some envelopes that are really difficult to just draw without a fader move having already written the data. At least, that's my opinion. Can't draw worth squat. Regards, Dan

I wish you had the option of making nodes follow snap settings. Why can't you do that?

Be awa there is a bug in Sonar. In some projects, my tracks will not Read automation unless I leave Write turned on. Other projects, this is not needed. I cannot isolate the factors that cause this but it is more than a one-off issue. Of course, it doesn't hurt to leave Write on unless, like me, you have a hardware console in which case you must be careful not to touch anything.
