Potentially dumb question, but.....

Does anyone know if it is possible to run 32-bit X2 and yet use one or two 64-bit VSTi?

Best,

    Nada.

It's not worth the effort to supply that capability. Historically, thunking to allow execution of older, smaller word sizes i.e. 32-16 and 64-32 have been supported to allow older software to continue, but never in the in the small to large direction.
32 bit still has a bit of life to it, (16 bit mode took a number of years to wane) but will slowly lose support over time as more applications are done in 64 bit mode. It's simply a matter of economics - there's no sense in maintaining more than one version and 64 bit applications are nearing critical mass.
