SPL Sale at Plugin Alliance
Plugin Alliance is having a promo to honor the launch of their USA online store. Use the code "SPLUSALAUNCH" to save $50 on all SPL products BTW, it's a bit confusing because the SPL website says that the code grants $50 for every order above $500 and that it is not good for software, but the email that I received from Plugin Alliance says that they are honoring it for any SPL software purchase until April 1st (no joke). I just tested the code on some of the $59 plugins (Attacker, De-verb, Mo-verb) and, sure enough, you can get them $9 each. Those three plugins essentially comprise their renowned Transient Designer ($199 retail, $149 with the discount), and you can have all three of them for $28. Yes, you need a Plugin Alliance account and, no, iLok is not required (good catch, backwoods).

Just bought all 3 for $20.25. Additional discount when you purchase all at once. No-brainer ... impulse buy. Thanks for the tip, cryophonik! Cheers, Eddie

Too bad about the iLok. I read the user manuals for the De-Reverb and Attacker effects, which says that they're lifted from the SPL Transient Designer. I read that to mean that for $18 you can have the equivalent of the Transient Designer ($199). The manual said nothing about an iLok requirement, nor did the product descriptions.

I just figured that out...from the FAQ: No more USB dongle and no more hardwaer card needed to use our plugins at all. ]We got rid of all hardware dongles and offer our own software based hassle-free license management system now. Our system simply requires ONE license file which covers ALL of your Alliance plugins. This file gets copied to your music computer, that´s it. Anyone have any additional information on or experience with their authorization scheme? I sure don't want to get mixed up in any more Waves-type might-fail-at-any-moment BS. EDIT: Hmm, I read a little further and found this: If you need your plugins on CHANGING computers / live consoles all the time we propose you use our new USB STICK ACTIVATION. You may have the license file and your installers on one standard USB stick which you may use to activate computers / live consoles "on the fly". That sounds susp iciously like the Waves scheme. I have a feeling that if you upgrade your motherboard these plugins stop working until you re-authorize them. No thanks.

Bitflipper, you just go to your account and there's an combobox where you select the machine you want to authorize it for. You can authorize each plug in on up to 3 machines ( https://www.plugin-allian...ctivation_manual.pdf), though I've never personally activated them on more than one machine. The USB dongle thing is fairly new and optional and I've no experience with it.

Does anyone have Attacker? I'm wondering if it's much the same thing as NI's Transient Master. I used that mainly for drums but I find that it also works well at making a synth stand out at a lower level in the mix by giving it more attack.

Don't have NI's Transient Master so I can't compare but SPL Attacker is apparently the transient part of SPL's Transient Designer (no decay control). Here is a graph of a clip that was copied. The copy of the clip after the vertical line is Transient Designer with the attack set at +3dB.

Even tho I only got the three "cheapies" if you've got your eyes on any of the other SPL plugs now would be the time to get one by purchasing the three cheap ones and the one or ones you want as well. You'll apparently get the $50 off per as well as the cumulative % off by buying 4 or more plugs. It's pretty much a real no brainer. @Bit...you can activate them to one or more computers OR to a flash drive...totally your choice.

if money is tight, may I suggest skipping any kind of room correction software, and keep in mind that the three inexpensive plugs are simply a subset of Transient Designer - if you have TD you have Attacker, MoVerb, and DeVerb,
