system memory commit grows too fast when editing

weird problem in X1. when editing a audio clip, (for example, a drum loop clip), when reducing the gain on snare hits, the system memory commit grows rapidly to where i can't work with it anymore and have to restart the pc. this is terribly annoying. i have 4 gb in the system. anyone else experience this and if so, how did you remedy it ?

fixed ( i think) : need to clear edit history. so, i have to clear it after about5 or so edits before my system starts to get sluggish. i suppose its also due to the project being large (~60 tracks and 10+ buses ) with loads of plugins.. so, its understandable, i think..
