Question about importing session settings...

Greetings everyone.  Here's the situation:

1. I created a template of approx 32 tracks and recorded (multi-tracked) 10 different songs in ten different projects.

2. I spent approx 6 hours mixing the first of the ten songs and found the ideal plugins and preferences for each plugin and track settings.

3. Now I wish that I could replicate all of the plugins, preferences, and track settings so that the entire project would sound cohesive, but it is extremely time consuming to refer back to the first song over and over again to refresh my memory as to exactly which plugins were used and how each one was configured.

4. A friend of mine who uses Protools suggested that I simply import the session settings from the first song into the remaining 9 songs and that would effectively copy all of the plugins and their respective settings into the remaining projects.

5. I have spent some time trying to find a way to do the same thing in Sonar.  Does anyone know if Sonar offers this capability?

Not exactly, but you can save the track settings in the first project as a Track Template. You can then import that track template into the other projects. From there you will need to copy the clips from the old tracks into the new track created by the track template.

You could also create project template from that first project by saving the project as a project template and deleting the track contents. Then you could open the template and another project at the same time to copy/paste track contents. It's basically the same as above though.

There's no quick, easy way to do it, unfortunately.

I prefer your second method Scott.

if you're running dual monitors you can set it so the source & destination projects are visible simultaneously and just drag/copy your clips accordingly
