Sonar X1 Drum Maps - Reassigning Outputs
After all these years of continually upgrading to the "latest and greatest" versions... hoping for a Drum Map system that would actually work; only to find that development in this area is woefully lacking! Sonar is supposed to be tailored to workflow efficiencies and yet, I spend a tremendous amount of time administering any changes in drum maps.
Why isn't there an easy way to reassign outputs within a drum map? If other synths are deleted or created, it appears to reorder the miid output. Then you have to manually go through each and every drum map entry and manually reassign it to the intended output. It's been this way as long as Cakewalk drum maps have been around. You have to delete your VSTi's then re-add them all, being sure to add your drum VSTi first.
Why do I have to use a drum map in order to get drum notes to appear on the piano roll? I should be albe to just click a checkbox within the piano roll. If you select note names from GM Drums for example, the note names change (albeit in a weird font), but the note appearance does not.
And, you can't pick a VSTi Instrument output when creating your own instrument definitions.
Anyway, I hope the folks at Cakewalk read this. I've read of other X1 drum map issues dating back to 2010-2011... and I upgraded to X1 Expanded, thinking drum maps would finally be addressed properly; especially since rythms are central to many modern music production environments keen on improving workflow.
