New Metal, Classic Style - Walkin' Outside The Lines - UPDATED

Hello Fellow Musicians!!
Just finished up my 3rd original song. I mostly just do this for fun and to get ideas out there. I used my EX-400 ESP Guitar, a cheap Fender Bass, Addictive Drums, and a Sterling Audio mic to capture the vox. My brain is mush on the mixing front at this point so I need to take a break. Anyway, give it a spin and let me know what ya think. Feedback is always a good thing if it's constructive.   Thanks.

Well, that had a nice blend of old and new. This is closer to my idea of bringing the past forward. Good mix, and I quite like the song. However, it sounded like you have some timing issues with the drums, and the lead guitar sounds out of tune to me. Its not bending up correctly and seems a few cents low. This might be related to your uploading troubles. Recall that come things can cause "stretching" when converting from 48k to 44k and so on.

The drums tend to have a progressive pace to them...but I will check for inconsitancies. As for the lead....I do try to tune up for every tracking session....but stranger things have happened. Thanks for listening.

Okay...I guess I'll begin taking non-constructive criticism now. LOL.

This song has a lot of energy, and it wasn't lost in the mix- good job.  The vocals cut through quite well which shows good engineering skills.  All in all, well done.

Hey...thank you my friend for listening. I appreciate the feedback. My head was cooked by the time I was done fiddling around with it....so it is good to know the mix stood up decently.  Thanks again.  :)

I am often rendered curious as to why some posts just seem to get a lukewarm (if even that) reception. I see you are a member from 2005... is this an upstairs/downstairs kinda thing? If not, then I don't get it.

I love what you got out of Add Drums on this track.

I would add a lot of compression to the vocals on the chorus. And to the bass.

That lead is kinda lifeless @2:51...maybe add some echo to it to spice it up.

    Enjoyed the tune.

Good stuff, like the arrangement of this song a lot, loads of dynamics. I hear a lot of influences in here, even got a hint of 'The Damned'style punk here and there.

The lead guitar is the only let-down, it is definitely sounding out of tune.

Vocals, rhythm guitars and drums are superb.

Yep...unfortuantely....I can't be a solid whole band by myself and the lead guitar is one of my weaker parts. That is what I could work out though. Thanks for listening and for the comments. The chorus vocals are pretty compressed with the JJP Vox plug...I could still experiment though. ;)

Okay...I will look at those leads. Is it the leads all the way though? I am not sure how I am missing this.

A hint of the Damned eh? That is a cool thing to hear....I had another guy say he heard some punk influence....surely unintended but I like to know that the vibe is there.

Hey...I will send anyone a solo-less version of the song if they want to track a better lead. My abilities are for sure limited.   :)

Okay...I made some updates to the song.

    • Added a little more echo to lead
    • Removed extrenuous kicks from the chorus
    • Tweaked lead a few cents up
    • Created a SoundClick VIP page to host the 320kbps version.

Let me know if the guitar tweaking helped at all.
