VS-20 and Studio Instruments

I recently purchase a V Studio 20 controller that came with Guitar Tracks software.  I also have the Cakewalk Studio Instruments pack, but I can't seem to record any tracks in Guitar Tracks with Studio Instruments.  I can hear the Studio Instrument output through the VS-20, but nothing is recorded.  Am I doing something wrong here, or do the two applications just not pair up?

Thanks for any help!

    Hi Joey,

Make sure your cakewalk studio instruments are in the correct vst folder first, which they should.
depending on what type of system you are using,a 32 bit system, will be in simply,cakewalk/vst plug ins.
sounds like they are indeed where they should be because obviously you have them open in guitar tracks?

recording midi instruments are a little different than recording audio signals.
when recording midi signals, you are recording the midi data to a track.
check to make sure you this midi data after your done recording,it should be right there in the track.

when your guitar tracks plays back the midi file it uses the instrument vst as a device to broadcast these signals back to you.

there are 2 things to be aware of:
1- input echo is turned on.
2-the record button is indeed engaged and recording when midi record is in roll.

hope this helps a little bit.
