will old 32 bit Sonar projects migrate to X2 64 bit?

This is such a basic question...but a forum search did not return anything.

Question: Will my old Sonar 8 32-bit projects open in X2 64 bit?
If they do, I might not install the 32-bit version of X2.
I know some plugs could cause problems.

Thanks-

Projects are not 32 bit or 64 bit. They are just projects. So yes any project will load in any bit version of Sonar.

i say the same as john, and you also noted some plug ins.

my advise is to open the project,re-name the project under a different name, then save it again.
this way your not saving on top of an old sonar project in a new version.

    you also preserve the original.

Plugins will cause problems if they are DXi's. 64 bit won't load them.

32 bit VSTi's will load through Bitbridge.

If the 32 bit plugs aren't on your system you will get a series of warnings stating so and you will have to re-insert their 64 bit counterparts.

I would at least install the 32 bit plugins (if that's possible) and then you can leave them be, or change then to the 64 bit versions and resave the project with a different name, as was suggested.

There is no downside to installing both 32- and 64-bit versions. The extra disk space used is trivially small, and you can save yourself a lot of potential aggravation.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Sometimes 32bit plugs don't like Bitbridge. JBridge is an option. Going with just 64bit plugs in a 64bit enviroment is best though. Some 32bit plugs don't like either Bitbridge or JBridge.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.
