Is X1 and X2 similar enough that watching X1 mastering will not confuse?

Is X1 and X2 similar enough that watching X1 mastering will not confuse?

Hey all, i just started my 30 free subscription to Groove3.  Wanted to know if X1 and X2 are close enough that watching Mastering with X1 will not be confusing. I know this sounds off putting, but it's going to be hard to watch everything I want in a month, so I want to watch what's going to matter most.

        Mastering is and art as is mixing. It doesn't matter what DAW is used the principles will still apply.

    Kind of figured that. In fact I have already purchased the Mixing Rock with Kenny Gioia. It was really good. I was mostly wondering if there were any X1 specifics that would not apply with X2.  I guess either way, it will still help solidify.

    If you're fishing around for good videos and you don't mind paying, it's worth subscribing to Lynda.com for a month to watch their mixing courses. The ones by Brian Lee White are superb. They're done in Pro Tools but the stuff applies anywhere.

    Damn, they have mixing videos as well?  I know they have a lot of software development type videos, but didn't know they had audio as well.  Cool, I will check it out!

    There is a lot of information in the X1 video that can be applied to the X2 for mastering. So the answer is yes go ahead and watch it and take notes. I purchased the video in the cakewalk store back when I had X1. Lots of great tips.

    Since you are over at groove 3 checkout Sonar X1 tips and tricks. like the mixing with Sonar X1 video this video has a lot of great information that can be applied to X2. I know you only have a month but I found the following videos very informative.

    EQ explained
    Compression Explained
    Zeta 2
    Ozone 5
    Mastering in the box

    These to me were the best ones for opening up the possibilities in Sonar.

    There are a ton of videos - mixing, mastering, film scoring, recording techniques etc. They even have a course on mastering for iTunes. 

    As for their DAW courses, well it's a freaking shame that they have omitted Sonar, given that it's one of the big boys. I hope they change this in due course.
