BCR 2000 or Mackie C4 I have the C4 and it is the best one out there. It has 4 rows of eight rotary knobs/buttons. I wish it worked with the pro channel- I would be in heaven. I used to have a bcr, but it was a lot of work to get it to work well. that may have changed- someone chime in???? I can't help think that since plugs are all so different that a touchscreen surface will ultimately make the best control surface for plugins.

Yeah...I'm not willing to go Windows 8 yest, so a touch screen is out of the question for now...and I have seen the BCR 2000...kinda eye balling that one...

That Mackie C4 looks very interesting. Unfortunately it appears to be discontinued (maybe for while, the web page says it's good for Sonar 4), and there aren't even any on ebay. Something I find pretty strange is that Mackie has replaced it with the C4 Commander which is software. Looks just about the same as the C4 but it's on your screen.
Kind of defeats the whole purpose.

The mackie C4 cannot see all plugins only some as many do not present the correct outputs for the mackie to pick up. I have one. Sorry now I bought it.

iPad and Liine Lemur app, TouchOSC, etc. If you have Omnisphere or Alchemy, or a few others, there are dedicated controller apps available for them as well.

I do not have an Ipad as I have a strong aversion to Apple, BUT...that may change in the near future! Thanks though...gave me some ideas out of the box...

what plugins (other than the prochannel) does the C4 not see? I've not experienced that yet. My C4 sees all my plugins (including all my waves plugins) without me doing anything. It certainly is not perfect, but sadly, it is the best thing going. You my need to start a new post asking specifically about the BCR. Or look at old posts- there are likely hundreds.

Something I find pretty strange is that Mackie has replaced it with the C4 Commander which is software. Looks just about the same as the C4 but it's on your screen. Kind of defeats the whole purpose. From the manual: The C4 Commander lets the C4 work with other hardware and software, providing more functionality for the C4. C4 Commander comes with an extensive library of the most commonly used MIDI synths and instruments, and translates the controls on the C4 into the correct MIDI commands to control the external devices.

BlixYZ : "why are my posts coming out with no paragraphs? firefox? " You have to either live with it, enter the BB codes manually, use a really old version of firefox, or use IE, Chrome or Opera.
