I realize that you need to have a sidechain compressor, I downloaded a trial version but could not figure out how to connect it. None of the documentation helped.
I've since downloaded a free one as suggested in case someone wants to try it. It actually looks like a really good one, if I can get it to work, it will probably suit my needs. I got this one...
http://www.kvraudio.com/p...f35d28c87e6095ace18d52 The MODE dial on the right has a "Side" setting which I am guessing is for side chaining since the needle (from the input meter) stops bouncing when I switch to Side mode.
I am still stuck with the same problem of figuring out how to achieve a connection to the key input into the plugin. I did this in Ableton Live no problems at all - it was easy and took 2 seconds to set up, but MC6, which should be easier to use than Live, seems unnecessarily obtuse in it's confiscation of any clues on how this might be achieved :(
There are NO tutorials on youtube on how to achieve this. I read through what I think are all the threads on this forum and nothing helped. There was an utterly useless explanation in one of them which listed 5 steps which made no sense at all. God knows why he had to bring DELAY into it.
This is what I have so far in MC6...
6 tracks each with a stem. I want to feed the BEAT track in as the compressor key and arbitrarily send other tracks to the compressor which I have assigned to a dedicated stereo bus. I have sent all tracks to the bus with the compressor on it EXCEPT for the beat.
On turning the side chain mode on, I would have expected an additional audio output to become available (which would be the sidechain key channel). This has no happened and the plugin has no way of selecting a key track.
How is this supposed to work?
Here is a screenshot of the issue...
