- Customisable CC can be used to quickly change articulation (defaults to CC32)
- Expression control added to all patches
- ADSR control added to the Stephenson/Brunel patches
- Route a microphone's output by clicking the mic title
- Improved Round Robin reset options such as 'Reset from' and 'Reset on transport'
- 'Presets' allows you to quickly purge/unpurge articulations defined for various situations.
- Holding alt when dragging a mic slider prevents purge/unpurge
And many many more tweaks and fixes"

I see nothing that is PC related, so I presume it's the same exact drag and drop install all around. And another upcoming video on articulation mapping is mentioned as well. This is all good.

Hm, I just posted a question to Spitfire Audio but I might as well ask it here too. ;) I own the very first version of Albion and never updated it. I reinstalled my PC recently and want to reinstall Albion now AND update it to v5. I wonder of this new v5 update is incremental or cumulative...? In other words: do I have to install the original version of Albion and then install ALL previous updates or can I install the original version of Albion and simply only install the v5 update? Another question: do I actually need the Connect software...? I already have the original Albion extracted and all: I only have to add it to Kontakt and I am good to go afaik. I downloaded the v5 update manually so it seems to me I can simply extract all the files and copy them to the Albion folder and that's it... right? The mail I received for the manual download links says I have to use Connect and press a button to change the Download button into an Install button... but it seems I can install it manually too... I have to say the given information is a bit sparse and not too clear. BTW What exactly does 'redux' stand for...?

This update is about 6Gb of new samples so I'm sure you'll need the others samples as well. ( IIRC around 20gb total?) Use the Continuata Connect software to download & extract your files. You'll need to use that as it requires your serial number before you can dl the files. Then watch the video link I gave to help explain installation. My set up contains each version & is rather confusing to explain. I have separate instrument folders for each of the updated versions 1-5. I've kept them all because there were some presets (.nki) I really liked (e.g. tbone+horns) that aren't present in all the updates. But IIRC I had to rename some of nkr files along the way. Also if you want the Ostinatum presets to appear automatically place them in a new folder in docs: PC: My Documents/Albion/Data REDUX = brought back. I think of it as 'RE-DO'.

Thanks for the reply but the question was if I need to install ALL possible upgrades (v2, v3, v4, v5) over a fresh Albion v1 install (as if the v5 upgrade was incremental) of do I only have to install the v5 upgrade over a fresh Albion v1 install (as if the v5 upgrade was cumulative). It's obvious that I need at least the original version, which is what your answer was. ;) And btw I don't need Connect to download the upgrade because I downloaded it manually (for which I had to enter the serial number on a site that was mailed to me). In the meantime Spitfire replied to the question if I need Connect to install by saying that it is possible to install the upgrade manually (as is shown in the video) but that using Connect is easier. But imho the manual install is pretty simple. However, unfortunately they completely forgot to answer my main and first question about v5 being incremental or cumulative... Hopefully they also read their mails in the weekend otherwise I will have to wait until monday. ;) Unless someone here can give me the answer, of course.

If you don't want the various patches from previous updates & being that it's the REDUX release chances are you'll only need the main set of samples. I would just install it then, is not that complicated.

Got a reply from Spitfire: I actually do need the samples that came with v3 in order to make v5 complete! 1. Odd that they don't mention that anywhere (I am sure I'm not the only one who didn't install every update). 2. They don't have a download section... so now I asked them how I can get that v3 update. I am a bit surprised by this rather amateuristic way of dealing with updates. Total lack of important information, no easy to access download page...

Since you used the manual dl did you go the continuata link they provide in the instructions email, enter the v3 serial number & download it from there? I've used the regular library installer with older versions & it works fine.

Carl A little question re Albion - is this the standard package - not the loegria or Iceni packages. I only ask as I really like to the sound of Albion, but its not cheap - if you had to buy all three products its VERY expensive!! Cheers Nigel

No, they're all separate purchases but do you need them all? Albion I is a wonderful basic lib to have in ones 'orchestral' toolbox. Also it's one of the top libs out there today, compared to the other rather expensive libs I don't think it's too far out of range price wise. It really depends on your needs & budget. There's a few other cheaper libs you can get with far more instrument range & Gb but when you compare them the choice can be quite obvious which one you'd prefer or use the most in the long run. I think many people expect too much out these libs, do your homework before you buy. You need a certain amount of orchestral composition knowledge & skills to get any library to sound authentic or realistic. It can be VERY tedious. If you're looking more for some general purpose or filler strings/ horns there's other good sounding, useful & cheaper libs out there as well. Albion is wonderful for expressive, dramatic & film but not well suited for a high impact or action / Hollywood stage style. (partly because Albion has the reverb baked in) And with any lib sometimes you'll need to use several or different libs together to get an authentic or desired sound. Unfortunately there's not a demo to try although they do offer some from time to time.

My problem is that I don't have a v3 serial number...? I never updated Albion before and presumed that if I wanted to I could also download the updates from their site. Not. So all I have now is the mail about v5 with the v5 code but nothing about v3. I hope Spitfire will send me that v3 serial then. Didn't know you needed a serial for each and every version...

Yes, if you look at each email Spitfire sends for a version update you'll see it gives you a unique serial number for it too. I'm guessing that's how Continuata works, it generates the version dl links that correspond to that version's serial #.

Just to add some more info to what is said, as stated in Spitfire's web site, Albion 1 is the base for big ensemble, then Albion 2 called Loegria is more for Chamber ensembles then Albion 3 also called Iceni is attempted for low end sounds, basses including synth and so. The 3 libraries should complete each other. I agree that these libraries are not adapted for fast cinematic or other style of music, because of the reverb that even with only close mic on you still have in the sound, which by the way, is very surprising at this quality/price range they should do some dryer takes to add. However they are great and very warm for any other kind of music and the ostinato is really a pleasure to use. Guys I need your help, I accidentally deleted the old Albion.nkr file, now I cant see the GUI of the v3 instruments. Someone could be so kind to send it to me, please?
