Cool stuff Daniel.  Personally, I'm a sucker for analog, especially sweeps, so ya' had me hooked.  Nice piece.

This was absolutely awesome. Outbloodystanding, actually. Man, I am kinda wishing this was the last song I heard tonight, not the first.

    Phil,
thnx for listening! I used to be always "only" the guitar player, but since I started dawing about 5 years ago,  I just can't stay away from all these nice synths that come with it. It's my pleasure, I could please you a bit with that tune.

    and thnx, foxwolfen,
working on this piece of music was indeed always my last activity of the day for the last week. ...pretty heavy daytime job at the moment, too tired to rock in the evening , so this little tune was just the right thing to drift away on.
    I'm glad you enjoyed it.

    Guitarhacker,
thnx for your comment!  ...yeah, I had the LL turned on during the mixing session. I guess it helped.

    Lynn,
thnx for the compliment!  Lots of good stuff on the song forum at the moment, indeed. I almost feel a bit guilty, not having commented yet. Some catching up to do here.

    Rimshot,
thnx for listening! It did feel nice to play that guitar part with all that texture around it. Just sticking to the melody, no need to rush and show off some fast and tricky guitar licks (I'm not a Steve Vai kind of player anyway...)

    Thanks again Gentlemen!

(...and if any of you have a LL implemented in your studio, may it shine on!)

    Regards
    Daniel

    Hey Daniel,
Very nice track.  I still love sweeps and sines myself.  Very nice and fluid guitar work.

Only one critique, on my system your stereo imaged guitars at the opening could possibly use a little compression/dessing to tame the chorus' artifacting and pick clicks.

            Other than that, awesome.

    Best,

Good stuff – as expected – a nice blend of interesting chord changes, textures and guitar-work. Another wonderful offering – keep up the great work. (BTW - Highway is on my daily playlist for quite some time now).

That was great.  I really like everything from the flow to your performance on this piece. The mix sounds rich and full on my end.  A lot is going on, but your instrument separation is clean/clear.  Some of the best recordings I've heard lately on the electric guitars. GREAT job!

Thank you all for your feedback! This is highly appreciated!

    Guitardood,
you're absolutely right about the opening and end guitar part. The problem is, it's got some hiss going on which would get more audible being compressed. dessing might be an option, never thought of that.  Another option would be to tame the peaks manual bit by bit.(I should have taken the time actually) The best option would have been to re-record it, but I kind of liked the lazy feel about it... so I just left it. Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment. These are the right kind of critiques that make us improve : )

    Manny,
I'm glad you enjoyed this! ...and It's a special compliment to hear, that you're still listening to Highway. That song means quite a lot to me. I'm feeling honored.

    Notnat,
    Thanks : )
If you had a relaxed listen, I guess the tune served it's purpose. ...now I can relax.

    Kev,
thanks for commenting on the mix!
Lately I'm trying to apply everything I learn from training videos, books and this forum of course, but most of all from the previous mistakes I made and still make to give every instrument it's own space in my musical constructs. I never seems to get easier, so your comment comes across rather encouraging.

Thank you so much, guys, and have a relaxed Sunday evening!!

    best regards,
    Daniel

Lavalamps are a bit of a sore point for me at the moment, as i recently knocked one off the shelf in the shop i work at and broke it.  But that's another story.

No sore points about this track though as i found it hugely enjoyable.

Wondefully melodic track with a brilliant arrangement and musicianship.

The mix is pretty marvelous too.

    perfection.

    Hi Blipp,

Thanks for your positive feedback, and sorry to hear about that tragic incident with that lava-lamp ...as there are such delicate little creatures.
