A month later, 2-3 hours of tech support and 2 Focusrite Scarlett 8i6's tried. Neither worked. Sending back to Sweetwater. Still looking for something that works.

Hey Jerry, Is the computer using a Z77 or Z75 chipset motherboard? If not, then the USB3 ports are 3rd-party add-on controllers. These are problematic with *many* USB2 audio interfaces. The RME units typically work... but achieve better performance using a USB2 controller (integrated into the motherboard).

Paul P I'm having trouble believing that some usb2 devices don't work properly in a usb3 port. Someone's not doing their homework, again. I thought standards existed for a reason, like to not have compatibility issues. This is depressing :-( Paul - I have had issues myself with using a USB 2 interface with a USB 3 port, and many others have said the same thing. Presonus technical support advised me to switch to a USB 2.0 port, and it has worked fine ever since. Bob Bone

I DO believe some driver updates have corrected SOME issues with USB 2 interfaces and USB 3 ports, but certainly the issues are still out there for some percentage of devices. Bob Bone

when I purchased my new computer it did not have a firewire card. I wanted to continue using my TASCAM FW1884. I purchased a firewire card from amazon.com and it works great! took a few minutes to install and cast about $30. If you have an available slot in your computer, you might go that route. If you do, make sure you get the Texas Instrument chipset! Good luck!

@JimRoseberry: I've always had you build my computers in the past, but my son wanted to put this one together for me. I've learned something from that! ;-) This computer does have USB 2 ports, but they weren't working with the Focusrite either. I've sent them back and going to try a Roland Quad Capture.
