Why doesn't Aim Assist work in the bus lanes?

If like me you make use of Aim Assist when drawing in automation, you're pretty much screwed when you want to automate a bus because Aim Assist doesn't work once you get down into the buses. Is there any logical reason for this or is it just another bizarre omission?

It was design decision. At least the documentation indicates what the Aim Assist Line was designed to do; assisting in bus automation was not part of the design. It might be nice to have in the bus area too http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/FeatureRequest.asp

You're partially right Chuckebaby, that thread was about the reading that Aim Assist gives when moving a clip around. The Bakers did indeed say they were aware of the issue.

Submitted. It seems like a no brainer to me. Aim Assist should work in the whole pane.

I believe the original design intent was as an assist for lining up clips, so the bus was not even a consideration. It is a new feature.

The same could be said about the snap grid too. It was designed for help in lining up clips, but really it should work in automation lanes as well. I often find myself wanting to draw a single node right on the beat, but snap doesn't work at all here.

Draw automation honors the grid. All you would need to do is move the nodes up/down to suit.

I'm not sure what you mean. I just checked. I have a project set to a 1/2 note snap. I used the smart tool to draw nodes in an automation lane. I am able to draw nodes anywhere and they don't snap to the grid. I can put clusters of them extremely close to each other. It's completely freehand.

I'm aware that you can make a selection that follows the grid, and then use the up/down cursor to pull down the envelope within that selection, putting nodes on either side. But sometimes I just want to draw a single node, or draw lines that snap to the grid. I cannot do that.

Yes single nodes are freehand but it would be easy enough to use the pattern draw to get nodes to grid http://www.cakewalk.com/D...mation.11.html#1158752
