Kick and Snare Midi issues

Hi everyone.  Long time user, first time caller.

I am working with a digital drummer and am mapping him through Session Drummer.  Here's the thing: All his drums are mapping perfectly, with the exception of the kick and snare.  They are showing signal on the master channel for the session drummer soft synth, but they aren't mapping to the kit properly.  Instead, I can see when he hits his snare pad, it triggers the "E" preset pattern in the session drummer interface and when he hits the kick it triggers the "G" preset pattern.

Has anyone ever seen this or maybe can help?

Thanks
Ken

Triggering sounds and triggering patterns are 2 different things, I would think your trying to trigger samples right?
Record the drums as MIDI and look to see which midi note # correspond to each pad.
Then map those note numbers to the correct sample in the  synth. Which brand of drums? Both Roland and Yamaha need no changes for kick or snare. Unless someones been messing with the brain.

Depending on your system there might be a bit of latency from a soft synth while recording so I monitor using the brain for tracking , more solid timing.

just watch it anyway,it about setting up session drummer to work with drum triggereing.
you may need to re map those notes.its hard to tell but so far what your telling me it sounds like this is the case
are you furmiliar with drum maps?
sonar usualy picks the kit up right away but have you tried looking through the drum maps to see if his kit is there?

The drummer needs to mod the MIDI notes the kit is sending. Pattern E is triggered by MIDI note 31 (G2). Pattern G is triggered by MIDI note 33 (A2). The SD3 snare is MIDI note 38 (D3) and the kick is 36 (C3). There is a complete mapping for the patterns and pads in the last few pages of the Session Drummer help file.

Yeah, it is the strangest thing in that the whole kit is mapping perfectly except for just the kick and snare are actually triggering the pattern presets "E" and "G".  The kit is a Yamaha DTXplorer.  But like I said, it is seeing the trigger for the kick and snare on the parent track for session drummer.   We even did a factory restore settings on the DTXplorer's brain....I'm totally bamboozled as to why this is happening.

If your not using the patterns, remove them from session drummer menu, I have had issue before where a simple midi note event kept triggering patterns. I never use them so all my kits load without patterns. Try that.

I have the Yamaha DTX 400 system and the defaults are GM standard for basic drum parts. I did not have to re map to session drummer 3. Seems odd your is sending none GM parts after re initializing.
Another tip is to use sfx samples instead of flac. They will respond properly to things like open Hi Hat pedal.
